Calvin L. Troup

Calvin L. Troup is Associate Professor and Director of the Rhetoric Ph.D. Program in the Department of Communication & Rhetorical Studies at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. He earned his B.A. from Geneva College (1983) and the M.A. (1991) and Ph.D. (1994) degrees from The Pennsylvania State University. His communication research agenda focuses on the rhetoric and philosophy of St. Augustine and Rhetoric of Technology from media ecology perspectives informed by the work of Jacques Ellul and Walter J. Ong.

Dr. Troup is a ruling elder at Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church, Gibsonia, PA (RPCNA) and teaches communication courses in the Master’s of Theology and Doctor of Ministry courses at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS). He also teaches regularly in the Theological Foundations for Youth summer program for high school students at RPTS and serves as a board member at Geneva College. Dr. Troup resides in Allison Park, PA with his wife Amy.
