This verse is such a great favorite: and the surprise is that this verse is universally loved by almost all men of the world. Isn't it amazing that while the world rejected Christ, yet it loves this God given teaching so much that every pagan, every Muslim, every false cult and heretic, adores to teach obedience like this. Surely this is proof that all men in the world are truly saved! Perhaps this is what the Bible means when it says they have the law of God written on their hearts! This is a terrific cudgel in order for them to use their liberty as an occasion to the flesh...a mercy they can find such solace in the Bible. Such a pity there are so few verses that provide such great solace and comfort. Nothing like a universal teaching to prove the brotherhood of man.

Christ bore all the wrath and the hell which were my part, so I can stand today accepted before God because of Him. The agony in the garden showed how horrible was the cup He had to drink instead of me.
