The End of the Matter

In concluding the book of Ecclesiastes, Ecclesiastes 12:9-14 commends its teachings to us, urging us to revere God and show it by keeping His commandments.

1. The teachings in this book are good
   for you (12:9-11)

   *The Preacher was wise and has
   passed wisdom on with great care
   (9)

   *He wrote to bring us pleasure while
   correctly giving us truth (10)

   *The teachings come from one
   Shepherd and so prod wise action
   and provide stability (11)

2. Revere God enough to keep His
   commandments (12:12-14)

   *Beware of seeking wisdom beyond the
   teachings provided by the Shepherd
   (12)

   *Fear God and keep His commandments
   (13-14)
