The ready worker

This portion of Ecclesiastes can be taken as an encouragement in gospel labour, a reminder that the Lord is able to bless good work done whether the circumstances seem promising or not. So we must begin by admitting our ignorance, for there is so much that we do not know or understand. Then we must declare our confidence in the God who makes everything, convinced of his sovereign care and government. Finally, we must show our diligence, in working morning to evening, doing good at every opportunity, for we do now know what the Lord will make to prosper.
