In our last study, we discussed the first part of this spiritual armor that Pablo says is so important that we all wear. And the first part is the belt of truth. I will not go over it, except to remind you that if we are going to be prepared To enter the spiritual battle that is around us, we must first be bound or wrapped in the truth. And what is the truth? The truth is the word of God. And this will ensure that we are known as people who tell the truth and who are is that, unsurprisingly, is full of relativism. And that is what Paul says to Timothy in 1 Timothy 3, 14-15. What truth? The objective truth of the word of God. Incidentally, it is not by accident that Paul mentions the belt of truth. First, the truth is apparently a predominant theme among this letter. totally in the first two chapters. Pablo says, look, I have given you all the advice of the word of God. Beyond that, he will tell the Ephesians, the elders specifically. I said, no, I stopped declaring all the advice of the truth of God, which means that everything has to do with Christ, everything has to do with the truth, the truth that makes sense, that can be known, objective truth. And Hollywood has done a lot of damage to our mentality, to our minds. If Satan can captivate our minds so that our emotions are changed or disturbed, if he can govern the way we think and govern the way we respond emotionally to certain situations, he can make us useless in the battle. How many of you have been so worried or overwhelmed by something that you can't control ourselves spiritually. They are so worried about this thing or the other thing. Read my Bible. What? He dominates the mind and convinces us that we We are at the door of death at any turn. It convinces us that we have nothing but the concern of occupying our time and that causes the emotional concern and it takes us out of the battle and we are no longer useful. We have to protect. We have to protect ourselves because Satan is very cunning to fill us with false information and so successful in darkening our thoughts with false doctrine, confusion, lies, worries, anxieties, that he uses these things to be able incite inappropriate emotional responses and cause us to put our affections and our hatred in the wrong things. That is why Paul mentions renouncing the truth first. It is one of the best defenses against Satan's ability to deceive us, which can very quickly be a prohibition or an obstacle. And what is this justice that Pablo is referring to? Well, there are three possibilities that Pablo is talking about. Pablo is talking about one, the self-justice of man. Or number two, our demonstrations of practical justice. Or number three, the justice imputed by Christ. These are the three options that exist. Which one is it? Well, the first one we can say immediately, because Pablo makes it abundantly clear in Romans 3.10, and I agree with you very often about this, there is no just, not even one. Therefore, any just act that a natural man in his natural state may appear to be, are not just. How do we know this? We know this because in Isaiah 64, it is said, All our injustices are like rags of filth. That is, anything that is generated from you, like a fallen man, a person outside of Christ, a person who does not possess the justice of Christ, anything that you do, that you consider just, Es un trapo de inundicia. I think he's talking about this, but more importantly, we have to understand that we can only do those things if we possess the justice of Christ. Everything returns to Christ, anyway, no? It's all about his justice. I was discussing with a brother the importance of believing, as we are told in the scriptures, that the battle of the believer against sin has already been won. Jesus Christ has already won the victory. Jesus Christ has already won all the battle that you will face as a believer. Jesus Christ has already overcome sin, death and the tomb. Jesus Christ has already gone before us to be able to prepare a place for us. And where he goes, we will follow. Therefore, we have already won the battle. As Paul told the Romans, we are more than winners in Christ Jesus. We have been freed from the power of sin and death, as Paul says in Romans 6, and we are now slaves of justice. What a wonderful blessing it is! Aren't you happy that Christ sees you, that God the Father sees you as a slave of justice and not a slave to evil? We are no longer enslaved to impurity. Now we can present our members as slaves of justice, bringing sanctification. And yet, here is the point, here is where people deviate. We have to recognize the difference between our positional reality and our practical reality. What do I mean by that? Well, what I mean is that in a positional sense, there is no argument. As believers, we are before God the Father, not dressed in our own justice, but in the justice imputed by Christ. There is no dispute. Paul says it in Philippians 3. Go there, Philippians 3, 8 to 9. And when you go there, keep your fingers there, because we are going to go through several passages, because we are going to return there. Philippians 3, 8 to 9, Paul says, And even more, I consider as a loss all things in view of the incomparable value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost everything and consider it as garbage, in order to win Christ and be found in him, not having my own justice derived from the law, sino la que es por la fe en Cristo, la justicia que procede de Dios sobre la base de la fe. There are some other relevant passages that I could mention. 1 Corinthians 1.30. You may have heard it before in Jeremiah 23.6, 36.16. The name of the Lord in those places, the Hebrew name of the Lord is Jehovah Tzitkenu. What does it mean? This is the most fascinating thing about this. This was not a concept that at this time was understandable by the Hebrew mind. It was not something they thought about. We are talking about a people who had been trained to believe that their own justice was contingent on their ability to obey the law. They firmly believed in a justice based on works, and now suddenly the Lord identifies himself as Jehovah Tzitkenu, which means God, our justice. It's wonderful. If you know anything about the redemptive history at this point in time, the opening had not yet been opened for them to understand if they were going to be just, it would be only based on the justice of the Lord. It's prototypical. A prototypical teaching. An old teaching that would not be clarified for many centuries. In the eyes of the Father, you and I as believers, we are completely justified by His grace and only by that grace. Paul knew it. We have already talked about the Order of Salvation, the Order of Salvation in Romans 8, 29-30. A perfect description of your salvation and my salvation from beginning to end. Because those who knew beforehand, Prognosus, who loved before, also predestined them to be made according to the image of his Son, so that he may be the firstborn among many brothers, and those who predestined Aestos tambien llamo. He knew that he was firmly justified before a God three times holy on the basis of the completed work of Christ. Therefore, this idea of positional justice is basic in the Bible. It should not surprise anyone. And even so, it surprises many people because there are many who insist that along with positional justice, practical justice must follow. I have to be just practically too. I want to show you that this is not the case. What does Paul say in Philippians 3, verse 12? Note very carefully what he just said. He says, I possess the justice of Christ, a justice that is not mine. And now in verse 12 he says, not that I have already attained it, or that I have already come to be perfect, but that I continue forward in order to be able to attain that for which I was also attained by Christ Jesus. Pablo is admitting, I still do not have this justice in its entirety. Positionally, yes. Glory be to the Lord, that positionally I am as sure as I could be. But, justly? Practically just? Not yet. Keep reading. Brothers, I myself do not consider having achieved it, but one thing I do. Forgetting what is left behind and extending myself to what is ahead, I continue towards the goal to obtain the prize of the supreme calling of God in Christ Jesus. So that all of us who are perfect or mature have this same attitude, and if in something you have a different attitude, that will also be revealed to you by God. However, we continue to live according to the same norm that we have achieved. There is a significant difference between being covered in the just clothes of Christ and living a consistently just life. Here we make the difference between positional and practical reality. Although we will always be just and sure in Christ, and God has declared us in the eternal past, to be just are the merits of the completed work of Christ. Our lives are not always the mirror of that positional reality, unless they are. Some of you want to raise your hand and say, oh no, Pastor, you are wrong. My life is perfectly in line with the position of justice. Someone? Good, good. You have to ask yourself, why? And the answer is, because your positional reality has not reached the level of your practical reality, nor will it happen from this point of glory. Any person who lives on planet Earth, even now, there is no one who is perfect, there is no one who is fair, even among themselves. We are only fair if we are in Christ. Now, think about it this way. If at the same time we received the justice imputed by Christ, that is to say, if at the same time we were declared just positionally in Christ, if simultaneously we were blessed with the practical justice to be able to be the mirror of that positional justice, why would we need three quarters of the New Testament? If it is true, that at the moment we receive the just vestments of Christ, we are made perfectly just in the practical sense, what need would we have of the constant exhortations in the scriptures that are mentioned here in Ephesians 6, 10 to 18? Why would we need anything? We could be walking around saying, I'm already dressed in this armor, don't you see how wonderful I am? Don't you see how perfect I am? I firmly believe that this is exactly what was in Pablo's mind when he wrote the words of Romans 7, which has become controversial unnecessarily. In Romans 7 there are two groups of people in the church who interpret differently. Some say, Pablo cannot be writing about himself in the tense present, although in Greek everything is in the indicative present, which is very ambiguous. He is referring to himself in his previous life. Well, if you insist that Pablo is referring to himself as a sinner in his previous life as an unbeliever, then explain to me what kind of unbeliever is saddened that he does the things that he doesn't want to do and doesn't do the things that he should do. What kind of unbeliever says that there is a war between his members, between the spirit and the flesh? He doesn't fight. It is when he has already been glorified. And it will not happen until then. Romans 8, go to Romans 8, please. There is another thing about Romans 8 that is very clear, very clear the explanation with respect to understanding Romans 7. Romans 8 starting in verse 18. There are some who profess to be believers who have difficulty accepting the fact that although we have been redeemed, we still sin. I have had arguments with people on this topic. I'm not going to sing that song that says I'm just a sinner saved by grace, because I'm not a sinner anymore. Okay, well, let me ask you a couple of questions. Do you still sin? We have the Holy Spirit in us who guides us, who leads us, who gives us conviction, who corrects us, who punishes us, who leads us step by step. to greater sanctification, we become more like Christ, by the grace of God, every day by the spirit that lives in us, and our inclination for that spirit is to be obedient to God. None of us would dare to think that we could sin because grace abounds. It has not been given to me. God forbids you to think about that. But this individual thought it was what I was saying. Oh, no, no, no. We don't call people sinners. Those who have been redeemed, although they still sin. And it surprised me. As... As... Ingenuous, scripturally. In 1 Timothy 6.12, why would Paul say to a Timothy who believes, fight the good battle of faith? Against what are you fighting? Why would Paul urge Timothy to fight a battle if there would be no fight to fight? There is a fight.
