Responding to Jesus: The Believer's Best Days

115

Are you an optimist or a pessimist? Most of us are, by nature, one or the other. But each of us –every one of God's children –has a new nature that anticipates our future with hope and gladness. Our hope and gladness is rooted in reality: Jesus, our King, is coming again. He is coming forus, to rule withus, in righteousness... forever. Our King's return is certain, unstoppable, and imminent. "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory." (Mark 13:26 NKJV) All of history is moving toward the glorious return of Christ. It is the end goal of God's purpose on earth. Every Christian has this hope and we're meant to live in the shadow of its certainty. "And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven." (Mark 13:27 (NKJV) Yes, dark days harass the Christian living in a world opposed to God. At times, terrible tribulation assails God's elect. But God Himself is moving human history toward the glorious return of our King. And He bids us to look past the darkness to this brightest of days. I hope to see you here this Sunday as we turn to Mark 13 and consider, "Responding to Jesus: The Believer's Best Days."
