Covenant Faith & Faithfulness
Series Ruth
30
This chapter in Ruth is easily the most controversial. The first five verses can easily dominate our minds as we examine the text. We do not want to brush over the fact that Naomi's instruction, though well-intentioned was terribly unwise and even dangerous.
Last time, we saw that a kinsman redeemer must be: 1) a near relative (Boaz is), 2) financially able (Boaz is), and 3) willing. The aspect of willingness will be expressed by way of covenant in chapter 3. Promises are made that will be kept.
But the chapter is really about covenant faith on the part of Ruth, and covenant faithfulness on the part of Boaz.
