Eating Your Bible
Series This Day and That Day
Do you have a healthy appetite? It is a sign of good health. The life that God imparts needs sustaining and nourishing. Job said, "I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food." (Job 23:12) David said, "Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day." (Psalm 119:97) Love of the Bible is one of the marks of a true Christian! "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever." (Isaiah 40:8) "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17) All the education a man's head can receive, will not save his soul from hell, unless he knows the truths of the Bible. "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Matthew 4:4) The Bible is "written by inspiration of God." It is utterly unlike all other writings. Written over a span over 1,500 years by more than 40 authors from different walks of life in three languages on three continents in various literary genres, the Bible has one sweeping message progressively developed through 66 books from beginning to end. The Bible is "able to make a man wise unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus." There is no gift of God to humanity that is so neglected as the Bible. "This Book will keep you from sin, but sin will keep you from this Book." Go deeper this fall. A Bible not understood is a Bible that does no good. Dig for the meaning, like a man digging for gold!
