12 Testing the Spirits: False Apostles and Prophets

For most evangelicals – if it is miraculous, if good occurs, if it is spiritual and powerful, then it is of God. This however is not true. God the Holy Spirit clearly teaches the church to beware of false prophets and apostles and to not naively test them by the empirical method but rather by the Word of God. Who better than God the Holy Spirit to know who is and who is not working by and for Him. Who better than God the Holy Spirit to instruct us on how to test these so called prophets and apostles? Who better than God the Holy Spirit to protect and guide the church through these treacherous waters. God the Holy Spirit, speaking through His eternal, inerrant, inspired, written Word is ready to guide, protect and instruct the church if she will only listen, submit and obey.
