The Vanity of Pomp

The psalmist calls everyone to listen as he testifies why he does not fear in trouble. Those who put trust in riches, wisdom, applause, and a good show possess foolish confidence because none of these objects of faith can keep anyone from eternal death. The faith of the psalmist, however, is in God who will ransom his soul. All who trust in God are exhorted not to be afraid.
