The promise of the Spirit

As Luke begins to explain all that Jesus continues to both do and teach by his Spirit through his apostles, he records the command that Jesus gave to wait in Jerusalem, in the light of the promise that they would be soon baptised with the Holy Spirit. Shortly after they ask a question about the restoration of the kingdom which seems to show a serious misunderstanding of the kingdom of God, and the answer Christ gives assures them of the power he gives, identifies the work he commissions, and shows the range of the kingdom as it comes.
