Although we're all children of God, I'm gonna address the young people first and just give them a rundown, but it's also for us because it gives us some background as we're in Genesis. We're in Genesis 42 for our regular Bible study, but for the young people, we just have a little overview and a reminder of where we were in Genesis 40 and 41. Remember that Joseph, who was betrayed by his brothers. He was sold to the Ishmaelites and Midianites. He exchanged hands somewhere along the way before he was sold into Egypt. And then that woman of his master, who owned him, lied about him. And so he was thrown into prison, but his master was in charge of the prison. And so while he was in prison, there were two prisoners that were put into prison in Genesis chapter 40. They both worked for Pharaoh. One of them was a butler, or at least he's called a butler. He served grape juice or wine. He served wine to Pharaoh. And the other one was the baker. He made pastries and breads and all kinds of fancy stuff. And he was angry with both of them on the very same day, it looks like. But they were both put into the prison and Joseph was blessed by God so much that the people that were in charge of the prison, the captain of the guard, who was Potiphar, who was his master, and then the person who was just in charge of the prison there, they put Joseph, he in charge of everything. They were very, he was very blessed. So when these prisoners were in the prison there, they dreamed, each one of them a dream. And one of them dreamed a dream. It said that as far as for the dream, Joseph interpreted those dreams and Uh, after three days, he was, uh, the Butler was released, but after three days, same on the same day. on Pharaoh's birthday, the baker was hung upon a tree and was executed. And both of those came to pass, and Joseph interpreted them. And he told the butler, when you go to Pharaoh, remember me to Pharaoh. It took two years, and Pharaoh had a dream in chapter 41. Pharaoh had two dreams. It seems that it may have been, it looks like it possibly was the first of the same night. He dreamed and woke up and then dreamed again, or it could have been two consecutive nights. What we know is, is that Pharaoh had two dreams. First dream that he had was that there was seven cows that came up out of the Nile River and the seven cows were very healthy looking, very, very strong. And then seven other cows came up right after them. And they were weak and scrawny and very withered and looked like they were about ready to die. But they ate the seven cows, but it didn't look like after they ate the seven cows that it did anything to them. They didn't get fat and they didn't get healthy looking. They just stayed scrawny. And then it shocked Pharaoh, but then he dreamed again and that there were seven ears of corn or, or grains of stalks of wheat. There were seven stalks of wheat that came up. And the first seven stocks that came up were really good looking and very healthy and even looked delicious. And then the second set stocks that came up out of the Nile, that they were withered and blasted by the east wind and didn't look like they were worth eating at all. And those consumed the seven good stocks of wheat And it looked like it didn't do any good for the seven weak ones. They still stayed weak. And none of the magicians or the wise men could tell Pharaoh what the dream meant. But the butler, who was constantly in the presence of Pharaoh, said, I remember in prison, there was a Hebrew young man who could interpret dreams. And he told them about his dream and the baker's dream and then went, And they went and got Joseph. Joseph shaved off his long beard and got dressed up and looked just like an Egyptian so that he could go in front of Pharaoh, because Pharaoh was the king of Egypt. He was the big guy in charge. And so when he went into him and heard of the dream, he says, Well, those dreams are like one because that they happen twice. It means that it will surely come to pass. Remember that Joseph had two dreams when he was still with his brothers and it made his brothers mad. So he had two dreams when Joseph before Joseph went was sold into bondage. Two dreams, one from the baker and one from the butler, and then two dreams from Pharaoh. And he interpreted them and said, there's going to be seven years of famine. Seven years when it's not, or excuse me, there's going to be seven years of plenty when things are going to grow and they're going to be like Chris's potatoes. They're just going to be huge and plentiful. And there's going to be so much for everybody. But God's going to bring a famine on the land for seven years. And the seven years of famine will make it look like that there wasn't even seven years of plenty, seven years of prosperity. So what I suggest you do is find somebody that's wise and take a collection up and during the seven years of plenty, then install a tax. And Pharaoh says, well, you can interpret dreams. Apparently the wisdom of the gods, because he didn't believe in the almighty God, but he says the wisdom of the gods is upon you. So you be in charge. And the only one that will be over you is me. And because Joseph was so blessed, Um, he was put in charge of everything and took in all the stuff during the good years. And when the bad years came, he was able to, people were coming to him to buy from the grain that he had. But as you can see for you young people, just keep this in mind that even though things get tough, even though things are Hard and they're not you're not in a place where you really want to be just like Joseph was he was in prison But he still loved the Lord and he still served the Lord and the Lord blessed him It took some time before he got out of prison and that he was put into a tremendous place But it just shows us that we should continue to have faith in God and what God's doing He our prison might just be this earth And the only time that we'll have freedom is when the Lord Jesus returns. So the lesson there is, and it might be before he returns, you might be in a place where it doesn't seem like things are going so good, but one day they're going to be pretty good. But the lesson is, is that always trust in Jesus, always trust and have faith in God. So that's our That's our short lesson to where we are today in Genesis chapter 42.
