The Covenant Community

Why does Peter call the people to get baptized? What does it mean to be baptized for the forgiveness of sins? This is a promise that the covenant community carries, and through the sign of baptism, they are exhorted to lay hold of the substance of the promise by faith: the righteousness of God in Christ.
