God's Glory Displayed in our Weakness and Faith

Gideon's faith is here tested as God displays his power through the use of a handful of men against great armies.
Why does God choose the weak things of the world, and things which are despised by men? 'That no flesh should glory in his presence.'

1. The display of faith.
2. The encouragement of faith.
3. The victory of faith.
4. The trial of faith.
   Application: 1. Christians need to learn to stop counting heads. 2. The natural tendency to self-adulation rebuked. 3. God singles out for service those that will bring glory to him. 4. The victory was not by the sword but by The Word. 5. Sometimes Christians can be a great disappointment. 6. Pruning is sometimes necessary in God's cause. 7. Chastisement is necessary for scorners. 8. There is no neutrality in this conflict. 9. The church is never to forget this particular victory.
