The Purpose of our Lord's Ministry

In this midweek lesson, covering Isaiah 61:1-3, we see that Isaiah's words are more than one of the greatest prophecies of our Lord's ministry, but that they also describe Isaiah's ministry, as well as the ministry of every born again child of God. First, we look at the context of Isaiah's words, and our Lord's application of them in Luke 4:18-19. Then, we see that the preaching that Isaiah refers to is the preaching of the Gospel, as well as who the poor and the meek are, to whom Isaiah and our Lord were called to preach. Finally, we see what the anointing is, and that, not only was our Lord anointed to preach the Gospel, but so also are we.
