Good morning, children. Welcome
to Spring Branch Academy, where we are seeking to instill wisdom
and inspire worship in every student to the glory of God.
We have eight categories today. Are you ready? In theology, we're
learning about revelation, that God has revealed himself in three
ways, through his works, his words, and his word. general
revelation, special revelation, and progressive revelation. Prophecy
is when God puts his words in the mouth of a man. Inspiration
is when God puts his words in the pen of a man. Prophecy began,
God's normal operation of prophecy began at Mount Sinai when Israel
was scared to hear God's voice. And so they said to Moses, let
God speak to you and then you speak to us. And that's how we
have prophecy giving us the Bible. And when it's written, it's inspiration. Prophecy is when God puts his
words in the mouth of a man. Inspiration is when God puts
his words in the pen of a man. Now in language, last week we
learned that foreign languages can be learned through vocabulary,
syntax, and practice. I'd like to introduce it to you
today as a pile of words, and play by the rules, and practice,
practice, practice. A pile of words, and play by
the rules, and practice, practice, practice. The eight parts of
speech have a certain chant. Are you ready? Nouns and pronouns,
verbs and adverbs, adjectives and interjections, prepositions
and conjunctions. Nouns and pronouns, verbs and
adverbs, adjectives and interjections, prepositions and conjunctions.
One more time, nouns and pronouns, verbs and adverbs, adjectives
and interjections, prepositions and conjunctions. In scripture,
we're at the flood. Noah exercised great faith in
taking God at His word and building the ark. Now, faith is the substance
of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If you have
faith, it enables you to hold what the future is so certain,
it's as if you can hold what God has promised. And the unseen
world is so certain, it's as if you can see into spiritual
realities. Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Government
began because man couldn't control himself. The earth had been filled
with violence. And so the beginning of government
is when God said, whoever sheds the blood of man, by man, his
blood shall be shed. For in the image of God, he made
man, Genesis 9, 6. Man is different than animals.
You shed a man's blood, your blood should be shed. Whoever
sheds the blood of man, by man, his blood shall be shed. For
in the image of God, he made man. Genesis 9, 6. And of course,
the importance of faith is emphasized in Hebrews 11, 6. Without faith,
it is impossible to please him. For he who comes to God must
believe that he is and that he is the rewarder of those who
seek him. We do not just believe that God
exists. We have to believe he's a certain
kind of person, that he is a graciously giving God. He rewards those
who seek him. Without faith, it is impossible
to please him. For he who comes to God must
believe that he is, and that he is the rewarder of those who
seek him, a rewarder of those who seek him. Blessed is the
man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in
the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers. But
his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates
day and night. He is like a tree planted by
streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and
its leaf does not wither. In all that he does he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are
like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will
not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of
the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of
the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. Psalm
1. Give ear and hear the words of
the wise, and set your heart to what I know. For words are
pleasant when they arise, assembled and ready from down below. that
in the Lord may be your trust. I teach you now, today I must. Have I not written to you 30
words in counsel and information that you may learn, that you
may answer the truth in recitation?" From Proverbs 22 verse 28, Do
not move the ancient fence which your father set with sense. Do
not move the ancient fence which your father set with sense. Do
not move the ancient fence which your father set with sense. In math, we learned about numbers
and numerals last week. Numbers, numerals how we write them. So
in numbers, let's go to the number zoo. Last week was cardinal numbers
and ordinal numbers. We had 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and
on. That's the cardinal numbers,
sometimes called the natural numbers. The ordinal numbers
are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. because they put things in order. In the number zoo, we have evens
and we have odds. The counting or the cardinal
numbers can be divided into even and odds. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, even
numbers never end. 1, 3, 5, and 7, odd ones also
count to heaven. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, even numbers
never end. 1, 3, 5, and 7, odd ones also count to heaven. In science, we learned about
biology and chemistry and physics last week. There are two myths
of modern science. Chemistry has no myth, but biology
has evolution and physics has the Big Bang. Both of these myths
are stories of how things began. Evolution is the world story
of the origin of species, of animals from other species. and
the Big Bang is the origin of the stars from a singular point. Each of these myths have as in
common that something greater supposedly came from something
lesser. C.S. Lewis pointed this out.
It is contrary to reason and so we're going to talk about
this next week on how we might answer evolution and the Big
Bang on a reasonable level But of course, the ultimate criterion
is the Word of God. For as Hebrews 11 says, by faith
we understand that the worlds were prepared by the Word of
God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are
visible. It's by faith, ultimately, that we understand it, because
nobody was there to see it. God must tell us. 1, 2, 3, 4,
7, 10, and 12, 40, 70, tell the story well. 1. A moment, a location, a point
in space and time, time and space. 2. Visible and invisible, beginning
and end, B.C. and A.D. 3. The heavens above,
the earth around me, and the sea below me. The past behind
me, the present now, and the future in front of me. Yesterday,
today, and tomorrow. The threes in space and time. In fours, we have the four seasons
in time. Spring and summer, fall and winter. Genesis 8, 22, while the earth
remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer
and winter, and day and night shall never cease, shall not
cease. We also have four directions
in space, north and south, east and west. From Revelation 7-1,
after that I saw four angels standing at the four corners
of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth. You
can see that God is a God of order. He loves numbers. Four
seasons in time, four directions in space, spring and summer,
fall and winter. North and South, East and West. So grab a globe. North and South,
East and West. North and South, East and West.
Let's grab the globe and pass the test. Longitude and latitude. Longitude and latitude. The long
one has no flatitude. I'm sure your mom or dad can
explain that one to you. Adam and Eve and the Toucan and
Abel. Noah the flood and the Tower of Babel. Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob, our fathers, Sarah, Rebecca, and rivaling mothers,
Reuben and Simeon, Levi and Judah, Joseph and Benjamin, 12 sons
in all, an unlikely way to answer the fall. So who is Noah? The second father of mankind,
a believer, is rescued from judgment through a complete covering in
an ark. Our poem for Noah can be sung
to any long meter hymn. Let's sing it to the doxology.
When violence filled the earth with blood, And all its flesh
became corrupt, Then God in judgment sent the flood, Which tells us
now to listen up. The waters rose up higher and
higher, but all within the ark were saved. The next time judgment
is with fire and only those in Christ are saved. May the Lord bless each of you
children. Until next time, God bless. Amen.
