Holding Fast

Paul has been exhorting Timothy to be bold, to not be ashamed of the Lord or of his own person. The reason Timothy is not to be ashamed is that he is standing for the Lord and the power of God in the gospel is behind him. Now Paul looks to the fear he has for Timothy, that Timothy will drift away. Paul has had many that have departed over the years and he is begging Timothy to hold fast.
