Christ the Servant, Our Living Hope
Series God's Saving Grace
In Christ the Servant, Our Living Hope from Romans 15:8-13, we are reminded that the eternal Son of God humbled Himself to serve both Jew and Gentile, fulfilling God's promises to Israel and extending His mercy to the nations. Paul shows that Christ's service was rooted in God's covenant faithfulness and that His saving work unites people from every nation into one body that glorifies God together. Drawing on the Law, the Psalms, and the Prophets, Paul demonstrates that the whole of Scripture points us to this hope in Christ. Our passage closes with a prayer that the "God of hope" would fill His people with joy, peace, and an abounding hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. In Christ, our servant and risen Redeemer, we find a sure and steadfast living hope that binds us together in praise to the God of mercy.
