Always Reforming?

Semper Reformanda is derived from a Latin phrase meaning, "The church reforming, always reforming." It is a popular slogan among conservative Protestant evangelicals. The origin of this phrase is unclear, but what is important to whether or not we really mean it. The times are to dire to simply be tossing about slogans and power-phrases. If we really mean to reform, we will consider not only the sufficiency of God's word, but also the sufficiency of the Spirit to empower and make effective the study and preaching of God's word. The written Word of God does not exist apart from the Holy Spirit who inspired it.
