Genesis 31:17-55 - Jacob Escapes

Our society loves to talk about how to escape "toxic people." This passage actually gives us a biblical example of a person with integrity, Jacob, keeping his integrity until it was the right time to leave, and then escaping his cheating uncle Laban in a just manner.

In addition to learning how to walk justly in the face of injustice, we must ask ourselves whether we are the one acting like Laban in other people's lives. If so, we have one option: repent.
