Praying Continually for One Another
Series 2 Thessalonians
38
Realizing how important it was for the Thessalonians to endure their suffering, Paul told them of his prayers for them. He prayed that God would sustain them in their struggles. In verse 12 he pointed to the interconnection between believers glorifying Christ and Christ glorifying believers. As believers endure, they bring much honor to God, but their endurance also leads to their glorification in some sense. Surprisingly we read in 2 Thess. 2:14, "To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ." While God shares his glory with no one, he glorifies himself in us through our sanctification and through believing the truth. (Notice, in 2 Thess. 1:12 we are glorified only "in him.")
