Do You Believe In Miracles?

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair." These are the famous words written in 1859 by Charles Dickens in A Tale of Two Cities, but they aptly describe the times in which you and I now live. Simply put, there are many good things happening in our world today but there are many bad things as well. And here we are, the church of Jesus Christ, living in the middle of it all. Thank the Lord for His great grace that we have Him and that He has us and that we have hope against all hope! Israel's fortune had seldom looked better and yet the man at the top was the fiendish Ahab! Ahab was so bad that he considered the sins of his fathers to be trivial. He had a total disregard for God and His Word. All of this ought to sound familiar, because we also live in the kind of times Elijah lived in. Our society is perishing. Elijah lived in an evil day, just like us. Elijah was a man just like us. Believers are all designed to be of incalculable use to God. Perilous times are times of unparalleled opportunity. The apostle Paul wrote this, "Make the most of every opportunity because the days are evil." Paul insists that evil days are days of opportunity. The more evil our culture becomes, the more opportunities there will be to be used of God. The light shines more brightly in the darkness!
