Idolatry in the Evangelical Camp: Pictures of Christ or the Glory of God?
Series Calvinistic Foundations
This 'is an urgent message for our day. The Bible makes clear that God hates idolatry.'
'The Golden Calves were Israel's attempts to picture God. (Exodus 32 and 1 Kings 12:28) Thus 'pictures of Christ' serve the same function for todays church, as did the Golden Calves for the church in ancient Israel, and the Bible forbids a representation in art of any member of the Trinity.(Exodus. 20:4-6)
'Making images to represent God corrupts those who use them (Deuteronomy 4:13, 15-16 and Romans 1:22-32).
'Images teach lies about God. (Habakkuk 2:18-20) God cannot be represented in art and all who practice idolatry are commanded to repent (Acts 17:29-30).
'However, since pictures of 'Christ' including video presentations pervade the Evangelical world, what are we to do?'
