A clash of kingdoms

Spiritual warfare is a reality: the enmity between the Son of God, the Seed of the woman, and the serpent and his seed, is a feature of life in this fallen world. However, we need to be clear about what is happening, who is winning, and who will win!

In this passage of Luke's Gospel, we see Christ's power demonstrated and then challenged. His power is then explained, as a basic principle about clashes within and between kingdoms is established, applied, illustrated, and pressed home. There is also a warning about Christ's power neglected, the absolute need for the power of Christ and his Spirit's work in us if we are to be truly delivered from the dominion of darkness.
