Amen. Thank you for tuning us
in. I'm Darrell Bailey, Servants for Christ. As we continue on
in our series, Amen, On the Journeys of Faith, this will be the third
in our series. Here we'll be talking about Jacobin,
trusting in God's plan and provision. Take your Bibles with us, if
you would, to Exodus chapter 1, verses 1 through 21 and Exodus
chapter 2 verses 1 through 10 is a good bit of reading. I originally
preached this August the 6th, 2017. And so when we look at
the wonderful Word of God, I'm glad that each and every one
of you as we get into the Word of God, here we look at our Jewish
year of 57 to 84. because the letters don't really
spell anything since they have a final form of the word none,
which breaks down 5,784 of the Jewish year. But when
we look at the gemetra of this, we look how that it breaks down
the meaning, the hey, the yod, the final none, the pay and the
dollar because it deals with the year itself, talks about
how that we look to reveal the breath and the windows of eternity. The yard that talks about how
that we work, we throw, it deals with the word hand. And so the
final none, fish, seed to sprout, offspring, hair and continue,
pay, blow, scatter, edge, and mouth, and the dollop, the door
pathway, and the movement in and out. And so when we look
at each one of these and what it means of the Jewish year 5784,
I'm glad that it talks about the message of what is going
to be for the Jewish year and how the meaning of these individual
letters of how that it talks about how the rest of this Jewish
year will be. When you put those words together
of the gematria 5784, then it refers to the beggar and also
that is sharp. And so the meaning of the individual
letters is that we look to reveal the breath, the window, and eternity.
The Zealand, the foot, the cut, the nourish, the weapon, the
sword, completeness, perfection, the chair, outside, divide, half,
exposure, fence, new beginning, new creation, and the dollar
again is the door pathway moving in and out. And so from these
letters, we could say that 5784 will be a window of complete
new creations going forth or breathing with our feet outside
the door just because there's the meaning doesn't mean that
they're not meaningful. And so when we look at this Jewish
year and realize the meaning, how blessed that we truly are.
I want to talk to you about Jochebed, trusted in God's plan and provision. Now, as we turn over to Exodus
chapter one, we're reminded of how that Moses is born and he's
set afloat in a basket of bulrushes. It's after Joseph's death. The
children of Israel increase in numbers and a new king who knew
not Joseph arises. And Pharaoh issued a decree that
all baby boys born to the Hebrews in captivity were to be killed
at birth. Amram and Jochebed were blessed with a baby boy
in Moses. And so with love and courage,
Moses's mother, Jochebed, placed Moses in a small waterproof basket
and hid him in the Nile River as he was hidden. the princess
of Egypt came to the river. She heard the baby cry, sent
her maids to find him, took pity on the child, and Moses' sister
Miriam perceived what was happening and offered to find a nurse for
the child. When the princess agreed, Miriam
quickly ran, to get Jochebed, her own mother. And the princes
hired Jochebed, Moses's own mother, to raise this Hebrew baby for
her. God protected Moses and provided
his own mother to raise and train him to follow God's purposes
for his life. Now, as Christians, we must trust
the provision of the Lord and seek to fulfill the purposes
given to us by God. As parents, We must protect our
homes from the threat of evil and provide a Christian honoring,
loving environment for our children as we seek to raise them to discover
God's unique purposes for their own lives. I say this message
recently, right after the devastation of the Appalachian High School
shooting, where there were four deaths, two teachers, two students,
and nine students that were injured from this one 14-year-old, Colt
Gray, that went on in and did all of this evil that had transpired
in Appalachian High School. And so, as this lesson, we need
to develop a heart to protect our families from Satan's attacks,
determined to trust God's provision in spite of trying circumstances,
and we follow God's principles for raising our children. We
need to choose to identify with God and his people and trust
God to reward the obedience that every one of us that we go through.
And so I'm glad when we look at the wonderful word of God,
I thank God as we read some of the scripture as we go. I want
to have a word of prayer before we go any further. And I want
to ask you to remember all of the needs within our church families,
our pastor, your pastor, your deacons, the government, the
White House, and all that's transpired in your city officials all the
way up through to your job, that we would pray for one another
and ask God to intervene. And I want you to remember the
needs of those that are lost, that they would come under the
convicting power of the Holy Spirit and come unto salvation
before it's any later in their life, that God would be the sole
one that sits on the throne of their life and that he would
be in the center of their life. Let's pray, Father. We come before
you with a humble hearts, recognizing our need for your grace and forgiveness. And we thank you for the gift
of repentance and the hope of salvation through your son, Jesus
Christ. Lord, as we study your word,
we ask for your presence to guide us, to open our hearts, lift
up those who are seeking your mercy and grace. And we pray
for the sinners who are burdened by their past and who long for
a fresh start. May your Holy Spirit work within
them, drawing them to repentance and the salvation, Lord, that
only you can offer. Lord, help them to see the depth
of your love and the power of your redemption. And Lord, on
the journey to the palace with Jochebed, preparing young Moses
for that journey to the palace. We ask that you help us to trust
in your plan and provision. Just as you guided Jochebed to
get Moses ready for the early years that placed him in the
palace for a purpose, we pray that you would also guide us
in our own journeys. Teach us, Lord, to trust In your
divine plan, O Lord, even when we cannot see the way forward,
open our hearts to the lessons of Exodus chapter 1 and chapter
2, and show us how that you work through Jochebed and to bring
him up about your will, Moses, to help to apply these to our
own lives. Strengthen our faith. Help us
to trust in your wonderful timing and your perfect provision. In
Jesus' marvelous mighty name, amen. All right, when we look,
we realize that Pharaoh decreed that all Hebrew baby boys were
to be killed. And amid this oppression, that
Levite couple, Amran and Jochebed gave birth to Moses. And so,
trusting in God's provision, Jochebed courageously placed
Moses in a basket on the Nile River, where Pharaoh's daughter
discovered him. With the help of Moses' sister,
Miriam, Jochebed was hired by the princes to nurse and raise
her own son. And I'm glad God's protection
and provision allowed Moses to grow up and get ready for the
journey to the palace where he would be prepared for his divine
purpose. As Christians, we must trust God's provision, seek his
purpose for our lives, and especially, I say again, as parents. And
so we are called to guard our families from evil. and nurture
them in godly principles and provide an environment where
God's purposes can flourish. Now, remember, again, develop
a heart to protect your family from spiritual attacks. Trust
God's provision even in difficult circumstances and follow the
biblical principles for raising children as we identify with
God and his people living in obedience to his calling. Now,
one of the first things that we see here is we look at the
Word of God and we see that in Exodus chapter 1 verses 1 through
22, we want to kind of paraphrase, it goes into the names of the
children of Israel. All the souls that came out of
the loins of Jacob were 70 souls from Joseph was in Egypt already
and Joseph died and all of his brethren and all the generation
and the children of Israel were fruitful. And we're going to
put this up in a minute. I thank God how many of us recognize
that when we look at the word of God, we're reminded of what
God can truly do in all of our lives. The children were at school
and every one of them were fixing to take a spelling test. In that,
the teacher had been teaching about something that picks up
things after them. And all of them knew that it
was a magnet. But when they had the quiz again,
the teacher asked every child in the classroom, hey, what picks
up things around you at the house and all this? And every child
began to think and almost everyone in the class wrote down mother.
Why? Because a mother is one that
picks up things behind every one of us and all of the things
that we go through in life today. we can be reminded that there's
no one like mom. Moms do so much for every one
of us today. And so in our world today, the
media belittles biblical family values. Motherhood does not get
much encouragement from our society. The feminist movement deplores
the concept of a mom staying at home, and the crowd who defends
abortion rights sends a message about motherhood that is undesirable. In reality, motherhood is the
most influential role on the planet of Earth. A schoolteacher,
I said again, gave the class second graders a lesson on magnets
and how that they had the ability to pick up objects up off the
ground. But the next day, the teacher gave her kids a pop quiz.
And she said, my name has six letters and I pick up things.
What am I? When the test papers were turned
in, the teacher was surprised to find that almost half of her
students answered the question not with the word magnet, but
with the word mother. The children had concluded that
mothers pick up things, not magnets. And so an average mom at home
works 92 hours a week. Another study found that if a
typical mother were paid for all the duties that she did in
the home, she would earn an average of $138,095 a year in the business
world. The figure comes from the task
accomplished by a mother in an average day. You see, in an average
day, a mother can be a taxi cab driver, a counselor, an engineer,
a carpenter, an accountant, a judge, a motivational speaker, a teacher,
a chef, a supervisor, a personal assistant, an event coordinator,
administrator, and a preacher. You combine all those jobs together
and you couldn't pay a mother enough money. Paying $138,095
a year sounds pretty cheap. But the work that most mothers
do is priceless. And so the Bible says that a
virtuous woman, a godly mother. is priceless. Proverbs 31.10,
who can find a virtuous woman for her price is far above rubies. And so I'm glad that in Proverbs
31.28, her children arise up, call her blessed, her husband
also, and he praises her. Moses was born in a wicked world
during the time of the Egyptian bondage. During this period in
history, the Jews suffered 400 years of difficulties. One of
the greatest trials and the most reprehensible acts committed
by Pharaoh in the trials was his command to the Jewish midwives
to kill the male babies as they were born because they were multiplying
so quickly. Moses' mother, Jochebed, acted
wisely in the face of a great danger. Now, there's much to
be learned from Jochebed's journey of faith as she began to get
Moses ready for the journey to the palace. And so I'm glad in
Exodus chapter two, verses one through five, and there went
a man of the house of Levi. Let me see if I can put it up
and keep us going right here. Amen. Because each one of us,
as we see that it starts back in Exodus chapter one, that it
tells us this. The names of the children of
Israel that we said earlier, As I put this up, I'm going to
highlight through it very quickly because, again, when we look
and realize that a mother is so precious, she's priceless. And so, as I said just a while
ago, $138,095 a year and you're getting off very cheap, amen,
because she can do all of these things. The things that we need
to learn from Jochebed's journey of faith as she got Moses ready
for the palace. is we see the protection of Jochebed,
a mother that wanted to protect her family. And so when we look
at this, Jochebed had a child named Moses whom she wanted to
protect from Pharaoh's evil command to kill all baby boys. And God's
plan went beyond merely protecting the baby from death. It involved
giving Moses the foundation to be a man greatly used by God.
And so, I'm glad we gain a glimpse of Moses' childhood as he begins
his journey for faith. And so, I'm glad that the wisdom
of Proverbs 1, 8 says, My son, hear the instruction of thy father,
and forsake not the law of thy mother. From the threat of evil,
Jacob had hid Moses from the evil influence that threatened
him. The writer of Hebrews said, but by faith, Moses, when he
was born, was hid three months of his parents because they saw
that he was a proper child and they were not afraid of the king's
commandment. And so, wickedness in Moses' day threatened to eliminate
God's chosen people. While Pharaoh was planning the
extermination of a Jewish people, God was preparing their emancipation
and the protection of the baby Moses, getting him ready for
the journey to the palace. God not only saved Moses from
death, but he had a special mission for him to accomplish a purpose
given to him at birth. And so he was to be the leader
of all Israel, and God would guide him every step of the way
on his journey for faith. The faith of Jochebed gave her
the courage to protect Moses from the threat of evil, and
she chose to put her life in danger in order to preserve and
shelter Moses from the threat of wickedness. And I'm glad hidden
in a small basket on the Nile River, Moses was protected from
Pharaoh's order and God's hand was evident as the princess felt
pity for the child. She further ensured Moses protection
from Pharaoh's wicked command. Just as Satan attempted to destroy
the Jewish race in Jacob's day, he's still today trying to eliminate
future generations of Christians right now. And yet even when
evil is rampant in this society of modern day, God is willing
and able to lead and to protect his children on their journey.
And so I'm glad the protection of Jochebed from the threat of
evil, but also from the attack of Satan, because Jochebed not
only protected Moses from the threat of evil, she also protected
him from a direct attack from Satan. Satan's purpose was to
destroy the entire nation of Israel, and he was accomplishing
it by attacking the family. If all of the male children were
killed, that would eliminate the future generations. Satan
is trying to destroy the Christian family and our world at this
very moment by turning the hearts of the children against their
parents and infiltrating their lives with wickedness. In this
evil day, God is calling parents to be like Jacobite, willing
to protect their families from the evil that is so prevalent
in our society. And so when we look, we see today
that there are several key ways in which we can protect our children. Amen. One of the first things
that we see is that we can set boundaries. Proverbs 4 verses
1 and 2, here you children the instruction of a father and attend
to no understanding for I give you good doctrine forsake you
not my law. And so you know what? One student
gave a humorous definition of a grandmother. Someone who comes
to visit and keeps your mother from spanking you. And while
this may be true in many cases, God is still placed authority
in our instructions and the family is God's institution. And as
parents, we are required to establish boundaries for our children,
standards and guidelines that are not designed to rob joy.
They're designed to protect. Amen. And so we need to be able
to set those boundaries. But secondly, to give a warning.
Proverbs 1.7 says the fear of the Lord is beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Carrie was four
years old and an insistent talker, and this made it difficult for
her parents and even her grandparents when it was time to put her to
bed at night. One evening, Carrie's grandfather was putting her to
bed, but she just wasn't ready to stop talking. She had said
her prayers, been tucked in, had been told goodnight, but
she wasn't ready to be quiet. Her grandfather reminded her
again that it was time to stop talking and go to sleep. To which
the little Carrie replied, but Papa, my mouth is not empty yet. The average parent will readily
admit that when it comes to giving warning, they do it often. However, it's important to remember
That strictness does not ruin children. Harshness ruins children.
And as parents, we must ask God for wisdom to be strict, but
not harsh in our warnings as we strive to protect our children. Thirdly, we see that we've got
to set examples. 2 Timothy 1 5 says, When I call
to remembrance the unfamed faith that is in thee, which dwelt
first in thy grandmother Lois and thy mother Eunice, I am persuaded
that in thee also. And so we've all heard the saying
repeated, do as I say, don't do as I do. But children, however,
may not always do as you say, but they almost always do as
you do in making an effort to protect our children from Satan's
attacks. It's imperative that we maintain
a consistent and godly example before them in all areas of our
life, amen. And so we set boundaries, we
give warnings, we set an example, praise God. But fourthly, we
are to be wise to that which is good. Romans 16, 19 says,
for your obedience has come abroad unto all men. I'm glad therefore
on your behalf, but yet I would have you wise unto that which
is good and simple concern and evil. A grandmother was trying
to teach her grandsons not to be so mean to girls. Two of her
grandsons were playing marbles with a pretty little girl, walked
by, and, I'll tell you, said Jake to JD, when I stop hating
girls, that's the one I'm going to stop hating first. Even at
a young age, we need to teach our children to be wise concerning
that, which is good. The world, is doing a very good
job at advertising that which is evil. And sadly, many young
people are very knowledgeable about the wickedness of our day.
May we do our part to ask parents to uplift and to teach that which
is good. Amen. And so as we look at the
key ways in which we can protect our children, set boundaries,
give warnings, set an example, be wise to that which is good.
Amen. But also teach the word of God. Amen. Deuteronomy chapter
6 verses 6 and 7 is one of the most popular, most well-known
that parents ought to know, even if it is the Old Testament. It
says, And these words which I command thee this day shall be in thy
heart, and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when
thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when
thou risest up. Teaching God's word to our children
is very essential. The Bible is our sword and the
main source of our protection against the evils of this world.
In Deuteronomy, we find the command to diligently teach our children
from the scriptures. And if your teaching cannot be
described as diligent and purposeful, Perhaps you need an adjustment
that needs to be made for the sake of your children's protections. And so we set boundaries. We
give warnings. We set an example. We need to
be wise to that which is good. Teach the Word of God, but also
practice forgiveness. Amen? Because Ephesians chapter
4 verse 32 says, And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God, for Christ's sake, hath
forgiven you. May our children always rest in the security of
our forgiveness. how we thank the Lord for the
forgiveness he has shown to us because yet we must also express
that same forgiveness to our children to be able to rest in
the comfort and the protection that our forgiveness can provide
and so I'm glad as we go on we see the scripture as it goes
on because he goes on And he says in Exodus chapter 1 verse
8, Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
And he said unto his people, Behold, the people, the children
of Israel are more and mightier than we. Come on, let us deal
wisely with them, lest they multiply. And it come to pass that when
they're falling out any war, they join also into our enemies
and fight against us. And so get them up out of the
land. Therefore, they did set over
them taskmaskers to afflict them. with their burdens. And they
built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Phithon and Ramses. But the more
they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And
they were grieved because of the children of Israel. And the
Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigor. And
they made their lives bitter with hard bondage in mortar and
in brick and in all manner of service in the field. All their
service wherein they made them serve was with rigor. And so,
when we look from Jochebed's journey of faith, the protection
of Jochebed, we see the provision of the Lord because Exodus chapter
2 verses 5 through 9 talks to us about that, amen, and it tells
us about this. Satan is attacking the Christian
family through drugs, immorality, alcohol, music, worldly lifestyles,
television, social media. These threats are part of a frontal
attack, one that is directly aimed at destroying your child
and home. And we can thank the Lord for
the protection that he provides against these many attacks of
the family and the marriages, just as he provided for Moses
as he floated down the Dome. He wants to provide for us as
we press forward on our journeys for the faith. When we look and
realize of the provision of the Lord, we see, first of all, He
provided a place for Moses because God's grace is clearly seen throughout
Moses' journey and specifically as God brings him to the palace
to be cared for. Before the Egyptian process thought
to call for a nurse, God planned for Moses' own mother to raise
him in the palace and provide a foundation of godliness. Many
believe Jacob was able to train and teach him until he was five
or six years old. But in spite of the unusual circumstances,
God allowed Moses' family to provide for him. 1 Timothy 5.8
says, But if any provide not for his own, especially for those
of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than
an infidel. And so God's unique provision prepared Moses for
his future. Having the foundation of godliness
instilled by his mother, Moses was then educated in Pharaoh's
court. This gave him a knowledge of the inner workings of the
palace, which you would later need as God's ambassador to that
court. And so he provided a place for Moses, amen, with the provision.
Secondly, we see that he provides principles for all of us. Ephesians
chapter six, verse four, and you fathers provoke not your
children to rap, but bring them up in the nurtured admonition
of the Lord. God commands us to train and teach our children.
You know, often there's a gap between what is actually said
and what the child hears. While teaching a group of children,
a children's pastor was answering the question, what is God like?
And as he was explaining the eternality of God, he made this
statement, God is eternal. A young child quickly questioned
what he heard. God is eternal, she asked. She understood what was said
in light of words familiar to her, but we must remember to
teach in ways that can be understood by a child. I believe that you
ought to have a children's church because children need to learn,
not sitting in with adults. They need to be in their own
learning environment while the church service is going on. They
need to be in a children's church. They need to be grown up. They
need to be learning about the Word of God on their level, praise
God. And I'm glad God commands us to bring up our children in
the nurture of the Lord. It speaks of the discipline.
Because in 1 Timothy 5.14, it talks about guiding the house.
And therefore that the younger women marry their children, guide
the house, give medication to the adversary to speak reproachably.
While many parents discipline out of a spirit of frustration
and anger, May we all exercise godliness and discipline of our
children from a heart of love. We must nurture in a home of
order. Chaos and confusion can breed unruly children. May our
homes be a place of loving correction and godly order as we seek to
raise our children with a love that was represented in our commitment
of marriage that we placed our valves one to the other. Raising
godly children also requires admonition, which is teaching.
Proverbs chapter 1 verses 8 and 9 said, My son, hear the instruction
of thy father and forsake not the law of thy mother. For they
shall be an ornament of grace under thy head and chains about
thy neck. May we never underestimate the
importance of teaching because the choices young people make
later in life will be greatly influenced by the protection
and training they receive in their earlier years. Remember,
I write a lot of messages about books just to try to get children,
teenagers, back in the library. Get them back interested in reading. Let their imaginations be used
by the power of God's Holy Spirit for what God intended it to be.
Not for what somebody else in the world wants to put in there,
but let the Holy Spirit do a work in them. I'm glad Philippians
4, 9 says, amen, that those things which ye have both learned and
received and heard and seen in me do, and the God of peace shall
be with you. The greatest way to provide for
your family is to pray that each one would know Jesus as his savior. And so I thank God, like Jochebed,
may we personally teach our children on a daily basis. John Wesley,
the great preacher of years gone by, said, I learned more about
God from my mother than all the theologians in England. And so
when we look, we see that there's a lot that we can learn from
Jochebed's journey of faith. And I'm glad that when we go
on and continue to read the word of God, and the king of Egypt
spake to the Hebrew midwives of which the name of the one
was Shephara and the name of the other Pua. And as we continue
on, And he said, when you do the office of the midwife to
the Hebrew women and see them under the stools, if it be a
son, then you shall kill him. But if it be a daughter, then
she shall live. But the midwives feared God and
did as the king and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them,
but save the men children alive. And the king of Egypt called
for the midwives and said unto them, Why have you done this
thing and have saved the men children alive in verse 19? And
the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are
not as the Egyptian women, for they are lively and are delivered
ere the midwives come in unto them. And so, therefore, God
dwelt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and
waxed very greatly. And it came to pass, because
the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. And Pharaoh
charged all his people saying, every son that is born, you shall
cast into the river and every daughter you shall save alive. And so, Moses is born and he
set afloat in a basket of the bulrushes. And there went a man
of the house of Levi and took to a wife, a daughter of Levi,
and the woman conceived by her son. And when she saw him, that
he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. And when she
could no longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes
and dabbed it with slime and with pitch and put the child
there in. And she laid it in the flags by the river's brink.
And his sister stood afar off to whip what would be done to
him. And the daughter of Pharaoh came
down to wash herself at the river, and her maidens walked along
by the riverside. And when she saw the ark among
the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. And when she had
opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the babe wept. And
she had compassion on him and said, This is the one of the
Hebrews' children. Then said his sister to Pharaoh's
daughter, shall I go and call to thee a nurse of a Hebrew woman
that she may nurse the child for thee? And Pharaoh's daughter
said to her, go. And the maid went and called
the child's mother. And Pharaoh's daughter said unto
her, Take this child away, nurse it for me, and I will give thee
thy wages. And the woman took the child
and nursed it. And verse 10, And the child grew, and she brought
him into Pharaoh's daughter. And he became her son, and she
called his name Moses. And she said, Because I drew
thee out of the water. And so when we look, we see the
lessons that we've learned, Amen, from this. Because I'm glad that
when we look at these lessons, first of all, it was the protection
of Jacob that we saw. It was also the provision of
the Lord. But lastly, in closing, it was the purpose of Moses.
I'm glad that when we look and realize in Hebrews chapter 11,
verses 24, 25 and 26, by faith, Moses, when he was come to years,
refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing
rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy
the pleasures of sin. for a season. Lastly, verse 26
of Hebrews 11, esteeming the reproach of Christ, greater riches
than the treasures in Egypt, for it respect under the recompense
of the reward. Like each of us, God had a purpose
for Moses, just like he had a purpose for Jochebed, to raise that child
up in our own home and get paid for it. and to be able to make
the journey to the palace that would be the one that would help
to be the deliverer out of bondage for all of the years of bondage
that were in Egypt. The purpose that he had for Moses
is the same purpose that he's got for you and I today. May
we all be challenged by the example of Moses, be determined to fulfill
God's purpose in all of our own lives. When we look, we see oh
so that we need to identify with God's people because Moses grew
up to be a man who purposely to he identified with God and
his people and he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's
daughter. And in doing so, he fulfilled God's purpose of identifying
with him. God commands the same identity
from all of us. He desires that we identify and
fellowship with God's people through the institution of the
local church. Hallelujah, praise his mighty name. Amen. Parents
should become concerned when a teen is bent on acceptance
from a peer or a world society system that's out there in place
right now. I'm telling you, you need to
give the recognition that that child needs. They don't need
to get nothing from nobody else. They don't need to be looking
for something from the world. Hebrews 10, 25 says, not forsaking
the seven of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but
exhorting one another. And so much the more as you see
the day approaching. And so to identify with God's
people, but also when we look, we see also to accept, to separate
from sin. Because a little boy was traveling
with his mother over the holidays and as they approached the airline
ticket counter, the little guy, he informed the agent that he
was two years old. And so suspiciously, the airline
agent looked down at the boy and said, well, do you know what
happens to little boys who lie? And the young traveler smiled,
yep. They get to fly for half price. You know, no matter how
young or old we are, God desires that we separate from sin. Just
as Daniel of the Old Testament, we must personally determine
to separate from sin. In Daniel chapter 1 verse 8,
the Bible says, But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not
defile himself with a portion of the king's meat, nor with
the wine which he drank. And therefore he requested of
the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. You know, when we look, all of
us can learn from the life of Moses is to wait on God's reward. And so God blesses those who
follow him on the journey. Earth's riches are nothing in
comparison to the great rewards that are going to be given by
God. And so I'm glad each and every one of us, when we look
at the life that God's got for all of us, amen. God has something
that he can provide for every one of us, amen, to be able to
identify with God's people, to separate ourselves from sin,
amen. But I thank God also to await
on God's reward because Moses waited 40 years in the desert
before stepping into his full calling. Trusting God's timing
is crucial for fulfilling his purpose. And so I'm glad when
we look and realize that each and every one of us as we go
through life, God has something for all of us. We've got to wait
on God's reward. Amen. As he waited 40 years in
the desert before stepping into his full calling, we've got to
do the same. Hebrews 11, 26 says, esteeming
the reproach of Christ, greater riches than their treasures in
Egypt. And so we look and we see that. How can we set better
boundaries in our homes to protect our families from the attack
of Satan? I'd say by setting clear biblical standards, teachings
of God's Word, maintaining godly discipline, praise God. And so,
well, what else? Well, we can also, what are some
ways that you've seen God provide for you during difficult times? I'm going to tell you, when God
guides us through these trials and provides for our needs, He
can do it whether financially, emotionally or spiritually. He
can hit all of the emptiness that's in our life and he can
fill us up completely because God can do all of those things
no matter how big, no matter how small. And how can we better
wait on God's timing in fulfilling our purpose? By trusting God's
faithfulness. That's what we've been trying
to teach. being patient in prayer, seeking his guidance through
the word and through the Holy Spirit. And so I hope and pray
that as I get ready to close out, each and every one of you
as we close out, amen, that Jacob's journey of faith teaches us the
power of God, power of trusting God's protection and provision.
And like Moses, we each have a divine purpose. And as we walk
in faith, God will guide and provide for us in ways beyond
our imagination. Amen. And so I hope and pray
that you're able, amen, to go and Through that obedience, we
can experience the fullness of God's blessings and influence
the generations to come. Amen. And so I thank God as we
look at the things that God wants to do for each and every one
of us. Amen. God wants to do some wonderful
things. I hope and pray that as I close
out, that you can remember that Jochebed was trusting in God's
plan and provision. May God bless you. Father, Thank
you for letting us learn from Jockabed through your words. And through this time of study
and reflection, we pray, Lord, God, that you would give us the
decision to follow you, to trust in your grace, experience the
transformative power of your love, and to find peace and forgiveness
in your embrace. Help us to all to remember the
lessons from the life of Moses and Jochebed, and to trust in
your guidance and assurance that you have purpose for each one
of us as we go forward. May we carry that strength and
wisdom gained from this study into our daily lives, as we live
according to your will and to the vessels of your grace and
compassion to those that are around us in Jesus's marvelous
mighty name. Amen. I hope and pray. God bless you. May God bless
you with our prayers. You can preach a better sermon
with your life than with your lips. May God bless you.
