Let's all stand at Canstand this
morning. Let's read together the ninth
stanza, verse 65 through verse 72. Surely you can do that. Verse
65, Psalm 119. Together, thou hast dealt well
with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy word. Teach me good
judgment and knowledge, for I have believed thy commandments. Before
I was afflicted, I went astray, but now have I kept Thy Word. Thou art good, and doest good. Teach me Thy statutes. The proud
have forged a lie against me, but I will keep Thy precepts
with my whole heart. Their heart is as fat as grease,
but I delight in thy law. It is good for me that I have
been afflicted, that I might learn thy statuettes. The law
of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. May the Lord bless the reading
of His Word. You may be seated. Now back there in the eighth
stanza, verses 57 through 64, We saw the grateful David and
we saw the further evidence that God had answered David's prayer
which made him grateful. We also saw that the Holy Spirit
had been instructing David to not only faithfully read the
Word of the Lord, but also to passionately study the Word of
the Lord which when he did, caused David to dutifully follow the
word of the Lord. Let me say that again. I read
this to you, I preached this to you last week, but let me
say it one more time, and you ought to use the word I in this. If I will faithfully read the
word of the Lord, and I'm not talking about once in a while,
but every day, every chance you get, But also, after you read
it, passionately study the Word of the Lord. If I will passionately
study the Word of the Lord, then I will dutifully follow the Word
of the Lord. See, this is what the Holy Ghost
had taught David. that if he would faithfully read the Word
of the Lord, but also passionately study the Word of the Lord, then
David would dutifully follow the Word of the Lord. From those
hours of reading and meditating, David learned, and I showed us
last Sunday, that there were three things for which he was
extremely grateful. And not only that, but these
three things seemed to have prominence in David's thinking. Number one,
David was grateful for the Lord's omnipotence, His all-powerfulness. Secondly, David was grateful
for the Lord's omniscience, seeing that God knows everything and
certainly everything about David and understanding that now by
this understanding of the Lord's Word. Thirdly then, David began
to understand and was extremely grateful for the Lord's omnipresence. God being everywhere and certainly
around David completely, totally. So verse 64, David even tells
us that he's grateful for the Lord's omnipresence when he exalts
the Lord by saying, the earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy. And might I add, it's full of
everything else you can think of, the Lord's control, His sovereignty,
His grace, His mercy, the whole earth is full of the Lord and
as I told you, this folks is where joy and peace is found
in the understanding that God's all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present,
all the time. and if He is, He's up close and
personal with us. That should make you extremely
happy because the same omnipresent God for whom David was extremely
grateful is still today preserving and governing all His creation
for His children's exclusive benefit as He exclusively intends
that they alone be with Him in eternity, in heaven, in the midst
of the bliss of heaven for eternity. God is doing what He's doing
up close and personal in this world for us that we might be
with Him where He is. Think about that for a moment.
God's personal, perfect, providential, omnipresent dealings are for
you saints. And Job 23 verse 14, Job stated,
here's Job, he's down in that dust and ashes, he's got boils
from the top of his head to the sole of his feet. And in verse
14, Job 23, Job says, for he, God, performeth the thing that
is appointed for me, and many such things are with him. Listen,
that's why that you and I believe Romans 8 28 the way we do and
we know All things work together for good for them that love God
God has performed these things Appointed them for us and we
know no matter what it is good bad or indifferent It will work
out to our benefit to our blessing We're our beneficiaries OF GOD'S
PURPOSES IN THE WORLD, WHICH WILL BRING US NIGH UNTO HIM IF
WE WILL JUST TAKE TIME TO READ HIS WORD, PASSIONATELY STUDY
HIS WORD, AND LIVE FOR HIM THE WAY WE SHOULD." And he does all
this up close and personal, right here. Well, wait a minute, Brother
Darrell, right here in us. For those who are listening by
sermon audio, I'm pointing at my heart. But notice, if you
will, that no, God does all these things and David is not finished
with his prayer. David appears to not stop at
the end of the eighth stanza. David appears here to slide right
into the nice stanza without hesitation. The reason for this,
as best as I can tell, is because the grateful David, upon these
revelations of God's omnipotence, his omniscience, his omnipresence,
given to David by the Holy Ghost, has caused David, hold on to
your hats, to become the hungry David. The grateful David, after
imbibing on the Word of God, the hungry David with humble,
respectful supplications wants more. That's why he says, teach
me thy statutes. This is a plea for more. These
grand revelations that have created these grand thoughts have made
him extremely hungry and he wants more. Thus still prostrate on
the throne of grace, the hungry David in grateful tones. First of all, thanks the Lord
for what he has done in David's life thus far, so he will get
more. Verse 65, David says, thou hast
dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy word. In the truest sense, David is
overwhelmed at the Lord's personal dealings with and for him. And
it's made David exclaim, praise, yea, exalt the Lord with an absolutely
grateful heart. Thou has dealt well with thy
servant, O Lord. How good are you? How wonderful
are you in the sense of the words. My goodness, this is akin, believe
it or not, to David saying, Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed
be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as
it is in heaven. You know what that's from, that's
from Jesus' model prayer when he was teaching his disciples.
And certainly David had found that God had been doing that
very thing in his life. God's will had been and was being
done in David's life. David's making a confession of
that right here. Thou has dealt well with thy servant. What a
confession. Lord, you've done it all. Lord, it's been you. in everything, in every way,
in every way. It's been you, you, you Lord. Whatever promises God had made
in His Word, David had been and was now enjoying as God had made
him a beneficiary of each and every one of them. First, think
about the record of the Lord's precious performances in the
life of David. As a youth, God had given him
power to kill a marauding lion and bear that was determined
to steal and kill some of his daddy's flock. But God gave this
kid the ability to kill a lion and a bear. And then secondly,
as a young teenager, God put the life of a giant in David's
hand to kill that giant of a man with nothing but a rock, with
a rock, when the armies of Israel were hiding from that Philistine.
And then thirdly, as a young adult, there was King Saul that
had been relentless in his attempts to kill David, yet God saw to
it that Saul never touched a hair on David's head. God would bring
this little shepherd boy from the sheepfold to be king over
Israel. Through many dangers, through
many toils, through many snares, God would bring him. and gave
David victory after victory. And then as an adult, God had
forgiven him for his tragic affair with Bathsheba and the subsequent
murder of her husband. And then fourthly, as an old
man, his own son would try to dethrone him. His nearest and
dearest friends would leave him, but God preserved his throne
and nevertheless, giving David rest from all his enemies. And
then lastly of all things, and certainly it wasn't the last
blessing that God gave him, but here as far as this sermon is
concerned, God makes an everlasting covenant with David, stating
that David's prodigy, that is all his offspring down the line
that God would appoint, would sit on David's throne forever. And my friends, that's being
accomplished even now in David's son, the Lord Jesus Christ. You
didn't know that Jesus was in the lineage of David, did you?
Go read Matthew 1. Plus, God blessed him with manifold
spiritual blessings, which included an interest in salvation to be
satisfied in time by David's coming Messiah, the Lord Jesus
Christ. When I was making this sermon
up, God was giving me these visions in my head of David's life, you
know, the bear, the lion, all these things. And as I thought
about David having an interest in the salvation of the Lord
Jesus Christ, it popped into my mind that here is David down
in paradise with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. and all of a sudden
he looks up and standing in front of him is the very one he's been
writing about in the Psalms. I mean, can you imagine that?
Oh my goodness, what a grand meeting in paradise that must
have been when Jesus came down there to lead his elect out of
paradise. Oh, what a wonderful thing. I can just see it all. Here was standing in front of
him the one that David had visions of. Here's the one that David
recorded the words of. Words that were staggering to
David. I doubt he knew what they meant
back in Psalm 22 when he wrote down the words of Jesus speaking
from the cross in the future. David was now seeing Jesus up
close and personal. They're in paradise. And there
in paradise, Jesus most likely said, hello, David. Oh my goodness there was Jesus. Hello David. And in a flash,
in a flash, all those words that David had written connected in
his brain. And most likely, I wasn't there,
I don't know, I'm speculating, most likely David fell to his
knees, yea on his face and grabbed his ankles, grabbed the Lord's
ankles and cried out, my Lord and my God. because that's what
Daryl's gonna do. When I see him face to face,
I'm gonna fall on my face, grab his ankles, wrap my arms around
him and say, my Lord and my God, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Oh, that must have been a great meeting, but make no mistake
about it, folks, the hope of eternal glory that was now David's
is yours as well. As David bows himself in thanksgiving
before the Lord here in Psalm 119, and cries, thou hast dealt
well with thy servant, O Lord. He has dealt well with thee so
far as well, saints. but the hope of the eternal glory
with Christ that's available in the hallowed halls of heaven
to those who trust in Jesus belongs to His beloved chosen children
exclusively. And if you're in that number,
it's yours. Just as David received these
views of our thrice holy God and the grand gift of His prolific
promises, all the elect received the same. These promises are
according to the Lord's own words, verse 65. And the Lord who cannot
lie tells us it's so. All the Lord's
providential mercies according to His promises found in the
Lord's Word were active in process for David. All the saints, the
elect of God, have the same promises of life, liberty, and pursuit
of the happiness. The saints are granted access
by faith into this grace. And we all hold residence in
Christ Jesus if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and trust
in Him, Romans chapter five, by the which the apostle Peter
tells us in second Peter one, four, that God gives us exceeding
great and precious promises that by these, you might be partakers
of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is
in the world. And pretty soon our bodies are
going to escape it too. Our soul and spirit has escaped
that corruption. If you're saved today, your soul
and spirit are clean and you stand righteous before God. But these old bodies, this old
flesh, it's still condemned. It's still corrupt. You got to
know that every time you grab a refrigerator door. but someday we're gonna get glorified
bodies, glorified flesh, and we'll stand in the hallowed halls
of heaven in perfection. Well, say amen, somebody. This
old body, my mind is wearing out and so is yours. Some of
y'all are way ahead of me in the race. Great spiritual blessings are
stored up in these exceeding great and precious promises,
which are yea and amen in Christ. The delivery of them is assured
to all that trust in His Son, which God that cannot lie made
before the world began. He made those promises to us
before a star glimmered in the solar plexus of the world. And folks, listen to me. There's
no shadow of turning in Him. He won't take them back. He won't
renege on His promises. He won't fail in their delivery.
He changes not. His compassions, they fail not.
All He has been, He shall evermore be. The Godhead of God is the
same yesterday, today, and forever. His mandates toward us will be
carried out in fantastic detail. And He won't miss a one. He'll
not miss a single detail. What He has promised, He will
deliver upon. So David has great reason to
exclaim, Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according
unto thy word. Secondly, David wanted the Lord
to take full control of his life in the present. David was thankful
for all the Lord had done thus far. Now he wants the Lord to
take full control of his life in the now, in the present. And certainly like the model
prayer that Jesus used when teaching His disciples, this is David
as much praying in verse 65, again, Our Father which art in
heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. And I can't belabor that point.
I can't say it enough. David definitely wanted the Lord,
the Lord's kingdom, to come and his will to be done on earth
as it is in heaven. He wanted it done in his life
completely. He wanted it continually. David
knew that if the Lord's kingdom was in him and Lord's will done
in him, David could not go wrong. That's what you should want. Your prayer ought to be, Thy
kingdom come. Thy will be done in me as it
is in heaven. Whatever your will is for me,
Lord, do it. Whatever you want to do with
me, do it. Lord, here I am. Take me. Make me thine own in
every way. Leave nothing out. David says,
For I have believed thy commandments. Which is David saying, I have
read your word and believe all that is contained in it, and
I want more. I believe every jot and tittle.
Here I am, do with me with every jot and tittle that you have
purposed to do in heaven. Here on earth. I don't know if
that made sense to you or not. Let me bring it down to these
terms. David is saying, fill my cup, Lord. Fill it up, Lord. Quench this thirsting of my soul. Again, from the model prayer,
this is David saying in substance, Give me this day, and I will
add every day, your daily bread, Lord. Give me this day your daily
bread. Yeah, and I know the model prayer
is speaking of bread, meaning food and shelter, and for physical
needs each day. But what David is asking for
here is for the SPIRIT. He wants that bread that is the
Word of God to nourish his soul and his spirit. I believe David
finds that to be real in his life before long because if you'll
look at verse 103 of this psalm, David says that the Lord's words
were sweet to his taste, yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth. Over in Psalm 34, 8, David says
there, O taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the
man that trusteth in him. David's being nourished by the
Word of the Lord. He's tasting it. It tastes good. It's sweeter than honey. He wants
more. I'll never forget back when I
was a boy, Lay's potato chip had this slogan for a while.
Bet you can't eat just one. Bet you can't eat just one. Well,
I had news for Lay's. That's the case for me with everything.
I can hardly just eat one of anything. David has tasted this and he
wants more. Not only was the word of the
Lord sweet to David, this bread also had spiritual vitamins and
nutrients that had in the past that would now make David strong
against the devil, that would help kill David's appetite for
sin, and would keep him in the straight and narrow. I'm convinced
that the vitamins and nutrients and food contained in this word
will keep you from sin. Sin will take you farther than
you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, cost you
more than you want to pay. But the Word of God and the nourishment
it contains will make you strong against the wiles of the devil. Read Ephesians 6 sometimes. Now,
the reason I believe this is there in verse 67 where David
says, before I was afflicted, I went astray. But David says,
now I'm keeping your word, but now have I kept thy word. This
is David saying in essence, forgive us our debts or forgive me of
my debts. That is the many sins for which
David says, I owe restitution and for which I have nothing
to pay. He had nothing to bring to the
table. Forgive me, Lord, of my debts. And he's talking about
not what he owes in money. David didn't owe anything in
money. David was talking about what he owed for the mercies
of God toward him. David had sinned through the
weakness of his flesh, which for all men is corrupt, your
flesh is corrupt. It is the continual target of
temptation, which can overwhelm any man or woman. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET CARELESS
IN YOUR DAILY CONSUMPTION OF THE LORD'S WORD, THAT BREAD. ESPECIALLY IF YOU GET HEEDLESS
TO THE PROMPTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. What I mean there is
the Holy Spirit says not to do a thing, you go ahead and do
it anyway. Holy Spirit says, DO THIS! And you say, I'm not
gonna do that, I'll do this. And then thirdly, You'll become
the greatest target of temptation when you get negligent in your
walk with the Lord. You let it go. You don't take
the time each day to pray as you should, read as you should,
study as you should. Why do I got to do it every day?
Because the devil never sleeps. David's being honest. David knew
that he had wandered from the Lord's way. He knew it. And every
time he attempted to ignorantly wrestle control from the Lord's
hands, bad things happened to David. But now, having learned
these lessons of the truth of God's hatred for sin, he says,
But now have I kept thy word. Verse 68, David says, thou art
good and doest good. Teach me thy statutes. In essence,
I don't want to be like I was. Accomplish in me that which your
word is intended for, that I might in every way honor you. I want
more. I want more so I can walk in
your way as I should. This is David here in Psalm 119,
wanting to take full advantage of God's promises. Because he
knew that these precious promises of God would help him to do that which needed to be
done before a righteous and holy God. You know, Peter had experienced
the same promises David had experienced. And Peter instructed those scattered
strangers, 1 Peter 1, now in his second letter, to be as newborn
babes, desirous of the sincere milk of the word, that they might
grow thereby. In verse 3 he says, If so be
ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. If you have found
that the Lord is gracious, desire it. Because there's more. There's more to be had. Listen,
God's barrel of oil never runs out. God's barrel of flour never
runs out. There's always bread at the Lord's
house. But I say that all the delicacies
ye could ever think of are there as well. The very man of heaven,
the Word of God, hath fed David and Peter, and will feed all
the saints that will feast on the Lord's Word. I think about
over in the Song of Solomon, even the old Shulamite, There
in the Song of Solomon in chapter two, verse three, exclaimed,
as the apple tree among the trees, the wood, so is my beloved among
the sons. I sat down under his shadow with
great delight and his fruit was sweet to my taste. The Song of
Solomon is a picture of the love of Christ for his bride, the
church, the Shulamite being the church in that story. That is
his people. And Christ has enabled His people
to sit down under His shadow, in His shadow, and feast upon
His Word to our heart's delight. He never sends us away from the
table. Folks, I want you to know the
Word of our Lord is also a marvelous banquet of His flesh and blood,
His very person and all that pertains to Him. After all, we
are all that are saved, joint heirs with him to all that is
in heaven, Romans 8, 17. Jesus declared, this is my body
broken for you, eat ye all of it. This is my blood shed for
you, drink ye all of it. My heavens, why would you not
eat, drink, and live in the goodness and favor of the Lord? Why not
take advantage of all that bounty? Now lastly, TO ENSURE THAT DAVID
GETS DEBT FOR WHICH HE HAS ASKED FOR THE FUTURE. HE'S TAKING CARE
OF THE PAST, HE'S ASKED FOR THE PRESENT, NOW HE'S ASKING FOR
THE FUTURE. DAVID NOT ONLY ASKS FORGIVENESS OF HIS OWN PERSONAL
DEBTS, HIS SINS, AGAIN THINKING OF THAT MODEL PRAYER THAT JESUS
TAUGHT HIS DISCIPLES, BUT ALSO FOR THE SINS OF THE OTHERS AROUND
HIM, POSSIBLY IN HIS FAMILY, AMONG HIS FRIENDS AND EVEN HIS
ENEMIES. David is thinking about everybody. You know, the model
of prayer says, Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Forgive us our trespasses as
we forgive those who trespass against us. David has a heart
for not only himself and his sins, but for others too. He
wants them to enjoy what he's been feasting on. Thus the words
from the model of prayer, As we forgive our debtors. Now look
at verse 69 and 70 back there in Psalm 119. If you're still
there, stay with me. David said, "...the proud have
forged a lie against me, but I will keep thy precepts
with my whole heart." I'm not going to let what they do deter
me. I'm going to pray for them. Verse
70 says, "...their heart is as fat as grease." but I delight in thy law. David could have killed King
Saul many times for just the lies that King Saul had told
about him. But David refused to touch God's
anointed, and that's what King Saul was. God had anointed King
Saul to be king. And David would not touch King
Saul, though King Saul lied about him, called him every name in
the book, hunted him down, but David would not give in. And
listen to this, when his own son Absalom tried to take his
kingdom and had all his friends side with him, David would not
come against his son, would not go against his friends. He ought
to have them all killed, but he wouldn't retaliate. Instead,
he went back to his kingdom. God restored it to him, kept
him there, wouldn't let anybody take it. No, David had a heart
of mercy like the Lord Jesus Christ who cried from the cross,
Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. David could well have prayed
before any of these terrible incidents in his life and said,
Lord, kill them all. but instead he says, lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil in the sense of
it from the model prayer. David didn't say that, but he's
thinking that. He wouldn't fall prey to falling into temptation
of taking life for life like that, unless God said to. David
wanted the rest of his life to be one of life and peace. And God has certainly He did
that, could do that, and would do that. For David had seen that
his afflictions had worked out for his good, as it does for
all them that love God, who are called according to the Lord's
purposes, whatever they are. And notice, if you will, David
was not bitter toward the Lord in the way that the Lord performed
His purposes in and through David, though some of the Lord's actions
were pretty horrific, hard. Looking back on all the times
and terrible incidents and understanding the providence of God in His
governing the affairs of all men, David says in verse 71 that
it was good for him that he had been afflicted, that he might
learn the Lord's statuettes. David had learned and surely
every saint, if they've been a saint for any time, has learned
that experience is the best teacher. David had learned a multitude
of lessons from the afflictions he had experienced. Number one,
hey listen, through those afflictions he had learned to lead a nation.
God used those afflictions to help him, to train him to lead
a great nation. Secondly, he learned the sovereignty
of God. Those afflictions made him know
that God was ultimately in control. And thirdly, David found The
attributes of God in those afflictions, God's love, God's holiness, God's
righteousness, that's His attributes. These are inherent to God, especially
mercy. Boy, David had learned about
mercy because that's God's attribute. God shows mercy. What is God? The Bible says God is what? Love. He learned that. Verse 72, David
says, That is the words of the Lord's own mouth spoken through
His prophets before David and into David. Plus the history
of the Lord's performance with His elect people of the Old Testament
recorded up to David's time. David had evidently been reading.
David had studied over them. And they were proving now to
David that they were better unto David than thousands of gold
and silver. Look at verse 72. Better unto
David than thousands of gold and silver. The Word of God and
all the doctrines contained therein that have been spoken from the
mouth of God through those men that God had chosen to speak
through were words of weight and authority and as such commanded
reverence and respect and should be held in awe. as indeed the
value, listen to me, of the very thoughts of God spoken in words
by His mouth read by us in His Word are beyond our ability to
calculate. We can't tabulate the value of
God's words. BE SATISFIED TO KNOW, FRIENDS,
THAT THEY ARE BEYOND THE VALUE OF ALL THE GOLD AND SILVER, etc.,
etc., IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, IN HEAVENS ITSELF, AND THEY ARE
BEYOND TABULATION WHEREBY WE COULD EVEN COMPARE THEM TO THE
WORD OF GOD. THAT'S HOW VALUABLE THE WORD OF GOD IS. DAVID WAS
EXTREMELY WEALTHY, FOLKS, BUT DAVID BELIEVED THAT THE WORD
OF GOD WAS MORE VALUABLE THAN ALL THE WEALTH HE EVER POSSESSED,
AND ALL THAT WERE AROUND HIM POSSESSED. YOU COULD ALMOST HEAR
DAVID PRAYING THE FINAL LINE OF THE MODEL PRAYER, IF YOU WILL,
FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM AND THE POWER AND THE GLORY FOREVER. Isn't that amazing how these
words of David in Psalm 119, stanza number 9, almost line
up with the model prayer? David is saying, in essence,
you own it all, Lord. It all belongs to You, Lord.
That He allows His people to share in all of this, by the
way, is all of grace. God's sovereign grace. And David knew this and wanted
more. He didn't want more wealth. He
didn't want more height. He didn't want more this or that. He wanted more from the Word
of God. That was what was nourishing
his soul. That's what made him wealthy
in heart and spirit and in kind. It was the Word of God. Oh, why
would you folks live your life in depression and desperation,
destitution, destruction, when you have Christ Jesus and Jesus
Christ is the very vault of heaven. The very prophet that God chose
to anoint David king over Israel, declares in 1st Samuel, excuse
me, in 1st Chronicles chapter 29 verse 11, Thine, O Lord, is
the greatness and the power. and the glory, and the victory,
and the majesty, for all that is in the heaven and in the earth
is thine. Thine is the kingdom, O LORD,
and thou art exalted as head over all." Listen to me, in heaven
right now, the 24 elders are bowed down around the throne
of God, and this is what they're saying, Revelation chapter 4
verse 11, this is what they say continually, Thou art worthy,
O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, for Thou hast
created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created. David declared himself in Psalm
8, When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the
moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained, what is man? That Thou art mindful of him,
and the Son of man, that Thou visit him. How in the world,
Lord, could You even throw an eye at us? based on who you are. The great creator has become
our savior, and he's been mindful of us, every one of us. I know he's been mindful of me.
You've heard me say this before, but I'll say it again. Long before
the heavens materialized from the voice of God, long before
the expanse shone one orb of light in the heavens, that same
mighty deity that created all time and space and all that is
celestial and all that is terrestrial in it knew my name. As much as each star was known
as it is known, spoken by God into creation, Daryl Lingerfeld
was known, Reggie Johnson was known, Dennis Johnson was known.
We all that trust in Jesus were known. in the expanse of eternity
past the extent of us was loved by God so much so that though
the extent of us was known corruption at all God chose to write your
name in his life book electing unto salvation every one of you
to be authenticated on the day that you were saved there in
the heavens of heavens, grand purpose was there inaugurated,
grand resolve was there dedicated, majestic means were there allocated
to purchase your pardon and adopt you into the family of God. Unconditional
election was thus mandated, predestination of your salvation was initiated,
having been there given to Christ Jesus to someday be emancipated. For me, that was June 20th, 1960.
On that day, my eternal life was activated, authenticated
by the quickening of the Spirit, by a complete imputation of the
righteousness of Christ into me. And with it came just complete
exoneration from all my sins, past, present, and future, by
the propitiatory work of Christ on the cross. by which God has
granted you, if you're saved today, justification and subsequent
glorification. I heard it as fast as I could.
Certifying your sure salvation and giving you residence in heaven's
domain. I know. I know it's true. for He saved a wretch like me
and you, if you're saved today. You ought to want more of and
revel in the knowledge of the sovereignty of God and so great
a salvation that is purpose for you. You ought to be as hungry
as David was. What can you answer our great
Creator when He asked, to whom will you liken me or to whom
shall I be equal? If you're smart, you'll say,
no one Lord, no one's like you. Let me read these verses right
here and then I'll let you go. Isaiah 40 verse 22. If you want
to turn there, we'll quit with this. Isaiah wrote verse 22 chapter
40. It is He, God, that sitteth upon
the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as
grasshoppers. It is He that stretches out the
heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in. Isaiah 40 verse 23, It is He
that bringeth the princes to nothing. He maketh the judges
of the earth as vanity. Verse 24, Yea, they shall not
be planted. Yea, they shall not be sown.

Him. Folks, His dominion is an everlasting
dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation.
And all the inhabitants of the earth," Daniel 4, 34 and 35,
"...are reputed as nothing. God does according to His will
in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth,
and none can stay His hand or say unto Him, What doest thou? Our Father which art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be
done in me, says David, as it is in heaven. Oh, friends, is
that your prayer today? Is that your prayer today? Do
you want more? Are you hungry for more? Oh,
taste the Lord and see that he's good. If you'll just taste him,
if you'll spend some time feasting upon his word, oh, you'll want
more. Thank you, Lord, for your word
this morning. BLESS BE THE TIES THAT BINDS OUR HEART IN YOUR
LOVE. THIS FELLOWSHIP THAT YOU BROUGHT
US INTO AND MADE US YOUR LOCAL ECCLESIATES, CALLED OUT ONCE
HERE AT THE PROVIDENCE BAPTIST CHURCH. LORD, DON'T WET THEIR
APPETITE, INCREASE THEIR APPETITE FOR YOUR WORD. HOLY SPIRIT, CAUSE
THEM TO FEAST ON THAT WORD THAT THEY MIGHT GROW THEREBY. Thank
you, Lord, for David's hunger revealed to us in Psalm 119.
These things we ask in Jesus' name, Amen and Amen.
