Genesis 30:25-31:16_Walking in Integrity

9

This passage recounts what appears to be the first artificial selection program in recorded history. Jacob was wary of Laban's agreeing to his wage, so he hatched a clever plan. Even if Jacob was not aware of all the genetic and epigenetic factors that go into gene expression, he knew sheep and goats well enough to know there was a surefire way of identifying which sheep and goats would be his, and that he could ensure that those were the stronger animals.

While some of the methods employed by Jacob may or may not have had direct impact on the process, we see clearly that his plan worked, and it worked especially because God explained that he knew what Laban was doing and that He, God, was intentionally blessing Jacob's plan.

Jacob was blessed by God as the one bearing the promises of God to Abraham and Isaac before him, but Jacob was also blessed by God because he walked in integrity in face of someone with much less integrity.

There are many ways in which God calls us to walk in integrity as well.
