Well, good morning and welcome
to the morning service of the Hardingville Bible Church. Good
to see you today, and we're delighted that you have joined us for this
time of worship. If you have never been here before,
a first-time visitor, or if you were here and never registered
your attendance, we'd like you to take one of those visitor's
cards found in the pew in front of you, And we'd encourage you
to fill that out, place it in the offering plate a little later
in the service, or give it to one of the deacons or to me as
you leave today. We have just a few announcements.
Number one, our shut-in of the week is Darce Leonard. And some
of us remember when she and her husband Bill were not only members,
but faithful in their attendance. Brother Bill was ushered into
heaven, and now as Darce has grown older, not really possible
for her to come and share with us, but she's interested in this
ministry and continues to pray. and listens to the service when
possible. So let's remember her and all
of our dear people who are unable to come because they're providentially
hindered. Secondly, I want to mention I
had a message the other evening from Kathy Conley. You'll recall
that it's been two months since she began treatment, underwent
surgery, and has been in rehab, and she was quite excited. It
was about, I think, 8.30 when she called me home and said,
look, I'll see my surgeon on Monday, neurologist, and I expect
to be discharged on Tuesday. So she believes that's an answer
to prayer, which we certainly do too. She's grateful for your
interest and love and prayers. and her daughter Susan will be
staying with her the first week, and then she'll probably have
some additional care coming in and out for the next few weeks. And then, you may have already
heard that today is Pastor Turner's birthday, and of course he and
his family have been away on vacation and then will be leaving. for the annual conference of
our fellowship at Tri-State. Pastor Andy and their families
will be going as well as a number of other laymen from our fellowship. So let's be in prayer for the
conference which begins tomorrow and will continue through Thursday
morning. And then I have this lovely thank
you note from the Bushstein family. Dear HBC family, thank you so
much for your encouraging letters, cards, texts, and emails. We
also appreciate the fruit basket. flowers, and other goodies. We
thank you for all your prayers during this time of our loss,
and they include 1 Thessalonians 5.11. Therefore, encourage one
another and build one another up just as you are doing in Christ's
love. Shall we unite our hearts as
we talk to our loving Father this morning in prayer? Our Father,
we thank Thee for the quietness of these moments. And it is our
desire to be still and know that Thou art God. We acknowledge
Thee as the God of creation and redemption. And it's our privilege,
O Lord, to gather as Your people this morning in this place to
honor Thee, to worship Thee, to adore Thee, to exalt Thee,
and to magnify Thy glorious name. We so appreciate the extension
of your love and grace in the person of the Lord Jesus, who
loved us and gave himself for us. And Father, today we say
thank you that someone shared with us the good news. You brought
us under conviction of sin and drew us to your blessed Son.
And we experienced the miracle of forgiveness and became the
recipients of eternal life. We meet together as your beloved
children, and I pray, O God, that you would remove from us
any distractions, that we may focus and give attention as we
sing the great songs and hymns of the faith, even now as we
pray together, as we fellowship with one another, recognizing
the oneness that we have in your family. And Father, as we open
your book, hide this messenger in the shadows of the cross,
that the truth of your Word may be magnified and your Son glorified. Minister to those who are here,
we pray thee today, who belong to thee. And Father, I pray for
those who may be with us today, family, friends, maybe visitors,
who have never confessed sin and received Christ as Savior.
May this be the day of decision when they are transformed from
the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light and thy
dear Son. We remember those who are watching
virtually today. We pray for Doris, but each one.
We think of our nation. Father, we acknowledge that these
are unprecedented times, and we ask that you would superintend
to accomplish your purpose. We pray not only for our church,
but for our school, and for all of our missionaries who are telling
the story of Jesus. not only here in the states,
but in the regions beyond. We ask your continued blessing
and thank thee for your goodness and grace. In Jesus' name, amen. And by faith we can see the Father. For the Father waits over the
way to prepare us a dwelling place there. As we come to the chorus, I'm
going to ask the instruments to drop out. So they'll play
with us for those verses, and then those choruses will sing
just our voices. In the spring, by and by, we
shall meet on that beautiful shore. In the spring, by and
by, we shall meet on that beautiful shore. and the blessings that come over
days. In the street, by and by, we
shall meet on that beautiful shore. In the street, by and
by, We shall meet on that beautiful
shore. Amen. Well, when I was growing
up as a kid, Saturday mornings were often house project days. And as a kid, I would follow
my dad around the house, in the basement or out in the garage,
maybe around the yard, doing repairs and updates around the
property. And my dad would often hand me
a screwdriver or a hammer and then give me some specific task
to do. And for those of you who do projects
like this, at the end of it, it's always nice to step back
and see what you've done, and there's that feeling of accomplishment.
But as a child, though I was involved with a project, really,
at the end of it all, it wasn't me who accomplished it at the
end of the day. It was Dad. He was the one who
was straightening all my bent nails and guiding the saw when
I would run it, and really putting the power into the work to see
it through to completion. When I think of ministry in general,
and then specifically here at HBC as well, I think of it in
this light. We are called to be active participants
in the work. He gives us all a task to do.
But aren't you thankful that at the end of the day, it doesn't
completely and utterly depend on your talents and skills and
abilities? The work of reaching lost souls,
the work of growing the saints and godliness, where is that
power ultimately from? Listen to the theology of the
work of Christian ministry that Paul states in 1 Corinthians
3.6. I have planted, Apollos has watered, but God gave the
increase. And it's our Heavenly Father,
friends, who is the power behind our work here at Hardingville
Bible Church, as well as his work in other ministries around
the world. And he is the one who sees that work through to
completion. As men come forward and as we
give to the Lord this morning, let's rejoice in what God is
doing here in our midst and for how he gives the increase to
our work here at HBC. Gracious heavenly Lord, we are
thankful, greatly thankful, that you have not called us to minister
and to have this ministry here at Hardingville Bible Church
based all upon our skill and our talent, upon our abilities
alone. Yes, you use those things. But
Lord, it is the power of God through the Holy Spirit that
works among us and through us by the preaching of your word.
Lord, thank you for being the head of this church. Thank you
for being the one who guides and directs us, who is the one
who works upon souls, convicting the hearts of sin and bringing
them to the glorious truth of the saving knowledge of Jesus
Christ. It's your work. And God, we are thankful to be
active participants in it. As we give this morning, I pray
that we would be found diligent doing our part of the work in
giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost around us. And in
Jesus' name, amen. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. One of the most prolific hymn
writers of the 19th and early 20th centuries was Fanny Crosby. It's a name that I imagine many
of you know well. Most of you probably know as
well that Fanny Crosby was blind. If you didn't know that, or maybe
you don't think about that as you sing her hymns, it really
is informative to understand how she thought about her Savior. And one thread that you often
see running through her hymns is that the first thing she would
ever see would be when she gets to heaven and sees her Savior's
face. We're going to sing one of her hymns, number 614 in our
hymnal, and you see this line in the second verse. Oh, the
soul-thrilling rapture when I view his blessed face. Of course,
Fanny Crosby and each one of us has not seen our Savior in
the flesh, but she closes her chorus with this thought, I shall
know him by the print of the nails in his hand. So we're gonna
sing this hymn together, and then after that, Ken Dennis is
going to sing before Pastor Smith comes to preach. Number 614. When my life's work is ended
and I cross the sterling tide, with a bright and glorious morning
I shall say, I shall love him, I shall love
him, every day by his side I shall stand. I shall love him, I shall
love him, by the weight of the nails in his hand. The monster of his mind left
me behind. I will go. I will praise him
for the fruits he offered me. And he claims to be a legend
in the sky. I shall go. I shall go. Through the great city of Rome,
the sun is bright. It will be my reputation, I will
rise. In the past, all the ages, I
shall think of it in light. And I hope to meet my Savior
first of all. Like a print of the nails in
his hand. From the moment man first disobeyed
the Father, we were then held captive by our sin. The law of God demanded a sacrifice,
redeeming to himself his own again. So the Lamb, God's only Son,
was freely offered Atonement for our sin forever made He innocent
and holy, still God and God only Could ransom and redeem us back

Amen. That was wonderful. Brother Ken,
when I saw you were singing this morning, I was most grateful. Boy, we met each other several
years before I came here, right? Yeah, I remember you and Alice
coming to the Heights Church during my ministry there. Well,
you know something? I never intended to speak on
the subject of Bible prophecy in my next message after I preached
on a, remember what was the title? A drastic disappearance, May
the 26th, in the morning service here. But as you were leaving,
several of you said to me that you appreciated the message,
that it was a blessing, and you were sorry that I had to hurry
to finish it. And some of you said, and notice
I said several expressed their appreciation, but just some said,
we'd like you to finish the message. And as I began to consider it,
I thought, should I really do this? But I was impressed in
my spirit to continue. And I thought, you know, without
repeating myself in detail, which I knew all of you folks would
remember, I thought that I needed to give some additional facts
and events in biblical prophecy. So today I have entitled the
message, God's Prophetic Program. And if you're following the notes,
and you know the last time I wasn't quite as diligent following the
outline that Hannah does so well for me in the church office,
but I trust that you will give me a little leniency because
I will do the best I can to be faithful to this, but basically
to my own notes. I want to review the previous
message, a drastic disappearance. You'll recall that we examined
in detail, did we not, three major Bible passages dealing
with the rapture of the church. And they were what? John 14,
1 Thessalonians chapter 4 and 1 Corinthians chapter 15. And the rapture of the church
is a biblical event when all believers, both living and dead,
will suddenly be caught up to meet the Lord Jesus in the air. In fact, the word rapture is
really not found in scripture. But the Greek word is arpezo,
which simply means to catch up, to claim to oneself, to snatch
away suddenly, according to 1 Corinthians 15, 52, what in the twinkling
of an eye. The rapture of the church is
the first event in God's prophetic program. And I want to remind
you that the second coming of the Lord Jesus is really in two
phases. First of all, we have the rapture
of the church when the Lord Jesus comes in the air for his church. And the second aspect of it is
when he comes in the revelation with his church. So, when we mention the fact
that God's prophetic program involves the rapture, followed
by the judgment seat of Christ, and the marriage of the Lamb,
and then we have the tribulation, and the revelation, the establishment
of the Millennial Kingdom, and then eternity. In the 260 chapters in the New
Testament, we find 318 references to his second coming.
And I want to repeat and delineate in your mind that when we say
the second coming, we're thinking of the two aspects of his return. Furthermore, we are told that
one out of every 30 New Testament verses declare His return. I can remember as a young Christian
hearing it said that at least one-fourth, one-quarter of the
Bible gives to us. Insight, instruction, information
concerning the coming of the Savior. Well, it's interesting
to me that this whole matter concerning the coming of the
Lord Jesus was not the result of imagination, investigation,
or could I say imagination? May I repeat that? No, but revelation. Remember what we studied back
on the 26th of May? We found it in 1 Thessalonians
chapter 4 and verse 15. And what do you have there? Some
of you are looking it up quickly. It says, by the word of the Lord. So, the Lord had really given
this information, this instruction by revelation. by the Word of
God, which is, what? Forever settled in heaven. But let's move on, because the
revelation from God to Paul, based on 1 Thessalonians 4.15,
gives us, I think, some very important information. And we'll
not only find it in 1 Thessalonians, but other passages. And this
is where I began to hurry on the 26th. First of all, it's
signless in nature. Recall that I said we're not
looking for signs, we're looking for the Savior. We're not looking
for signs, we're listening for the sound, the sound of the trumpet. Furthermore, we need to recognize
that this rapture is selective in character. Now what do I mean
by that? You say, Terry, selective in
character? Yes. I mean, first, Christ the
firstfruits. Afterward, they that are Christ
at his coming. 1 Corinthians 15, 23. But in addition, there is a surprise
in the timing. Now what's interesting, and I
think that I may have forwarded this to some of you folks in
the church, Dr. Kevin Bowder, who is a distinguished
professor at Central Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Minnesota,
wrote an article in the Nick of Times, and he was talking
about a rather lengthy and detailed treatise on dispensationalism. And he was saying that there
are those today I think he called them classical dispensationalists,
who believe the composite, the combination of some of the significant
events of our day indicate the soon appearing of the Lord Jesus.
And Bauder is very careful to explain that we are not looking
for those signs. We are looking for the Savior,
and the fact that it's intimate, that it could occur anytime,
does not mean that it would happen today. Don't misunderstand me. It could, but it may not even
occur in our lifetime. The important thing is for us
to know that it's closer than when we first believed. It's
sudden in the event, in the moment, in the twinkling of an eye. And
it shall be satisfying, beloved, now are we the sons of God. And it doth not yet appear what
we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear, what class? We shall be like Him, for we
shall see Him as He is. And we sang that song, did we
not, by Fanny Crosby? I shall know Him. What an exciting,
thrilling, satisfying experience and event that will be for those
who will meet Him on the golden shore. But let's go on, shall
we? What are the blessings of the
rapture? Well, expectation. Looking for that blessed hope
and the glorious appearing. Is it a blessing when you study
these prophetic passages? Do you recognize that there's
something that's expected? We should be on our spiritual
tiptoes. Day after day, when you awaken
in the morning, God has given us another day, an opportunity
to live for him and to serve him with all of our hearts. Expectation, looking for that
bliss, but dedication. Little children abide in him
that when he shall appear, We shall have confidence and not
be ashamed at his coming. You know something? Over the
years, I've made many, many house calls. And I remember that I've
gone into some of the houses and they didn't expect me because,
you know, years ago, you just dropped in. Now, today, you don't
do that. You know, I did that years ago
before I came here. And I dropped in, and I'll tell
you, they were not happy to see me. I got the message. I learned by personal experience. But what I'm saying is, I've
gone in, and the wife would say, I didn't know you were coming.
And if I had, and look, she was talking about dust on the coffee
table. I hadn't eaten, you know men,
we don't notice all those things. I wouldn't have even known it
if she hadn't called it to my attention. And other things. What I'm saying is, in a way
she was ashamed with my appearance. That can happen spiritually to
you and me. We need to be prepared and dedicated. Be ready, for you know not when
the Son of Man cometh. Preparation. You know, I read
a little story of one of the giants of the faith some years
ago. And he was an art and soul winner. And he would engage people in
order to witness to them. And he'd say to them, do you
believe the Lord's coming today? And they would retort or reply,
and they'd say, no, I don't think so. And he'd say, at the hour
that you think not, that's when he's coming. You better get ready. You know the verse there? Yeah,
here it is. Be ye therefore ready, for the
Son of Man cometh at an hour when ye think not." Luke 12,
40. And then, lastly, comfort or
consolation. With these words, comfort one
another. Now, immediately following, immediately
following the rapture of the church, where are we? heaven absolutely now the next
thing if you follow it chronologically is what the judgment seat of
Christ go with me will you to 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 the
judgment seat of Christ 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 and we want to look at at verse
10. Now what are we dealing with?
The judgment seat of Christ. You know, this really is our
final exam. And how important it is for us
to be prepared for that final exam. And you know, as I was
studying this, I thought, you know, I had a roommate at college,
and he was pre-law. And at Dickinson in Carlisle,
Pennsylvania, the campus of the college was adjacent to the Dickinson
School of Law. I think it's been purchased now
by Pennsylvania State College, you know, with the headquarters
in help me out there at State College. Yeah, the headquarters,
Pennsylvania, what is it, Pennsylvania State University? Penn State,
I got it now. Alright, Penn State with the
headquarters at State College. But they have bought Dickinson
School of Law, but he was able to take classes during his junior
and senior year that counted for college credit plus law school. So when he graduated from college
he only had two years left. But the point that I want to
make is he and I had a different schedule in the sense that he
liked to stay up late and cram for the finals. And then he would
sleep in. Now I was direct opposite. I
like to go to bed early and get up in the morning when I was
fresh and clear and study. I thought I could memorize better
at that time. But we appreciated each other.
When he stayed up, I could go to sleep. He didn't make any
noise, no distractions. Likewise, when I got up in the
morning, I honored him. But you know something? If we
were studying the same course, it was interesting. We had the
same textbook. We were using the same text. Now, we might have had the same
syllabus. And if those notes were distributed by the professor
rather than we taking them, we would have had the same notes.
Now, what am I saying here about the judgment seat of Christ?
We're dealing here not with salvation, but with service. The idea that
the judgment seat of Christ is not justice and judgment. It's examination. It's evaluation. And interestingly
enough, we have the same textbook. What is it, class? The Bible. And who is the teacher? Laman
Strauss used to say every believer has the built-in Bible teacher.
And who is he? The Holy Spirit. And if you have
not the Spirit of God, ye are not a child of God. So let's
think of this. This judgment seat of Christ
occurs after the rapture in heaven. The judgment seat word is Bema. And do you know, it says in John
5, 22, that the Father has given all judgment to the Son. So, the Lord Jesus Christ, He's
the Judge. But I also read that He is, in
2 Corinthians 5, 10, in this passage, the Rewarder. the one
who distributes. Let's think of the word Bema
for just a moment. Now there are several uses for
it, but primarily in the Bible and in this verse of 2 Corinthians
5 10, we have what class? We have this platform and the
Corinthians would understood it because they understood the
Olympian games. So here's this platform that
was actually accessible by steps. So the judge would climb the
steps and there he would sit on a seat on this platform and
he would take notice of all the participants that they were adhering
to the rules, meaning the standards. And then those who finished well
He gave to them awards. So that's what I see here in
this text. This is not optional. Every individual believer must
appear. It's not a large gathering. It's not a corporate distribution. It's individual. It's necessary. It's imperative. It's inescapable,
if you will. And the issue, may I repeat,
is not sin and salvation, but life, service, and motive. The sin question was settled
at the cross. And when you repented of your
sin, you know, I visited somebody here in our church this past
week. In fact, she'd been in, she met her husband when she
was a Marine and he was a Marine. And she was telling me about
it. And I said, how did you come to Christ? And she said, you
know, I said that I trusted Christ years ago, but she said, I never
told him I'm sorry for my sin. I had no awareness of the importance
of repentance and faith. And she said, I understood that
and I became convicted about it. And she said, some years
later, I told the Lord how sorry I was for my sin. And I trusted
him, I received him as my personal savior. And I thought, you know,
that's a great testimony, isn't it? Yeah. In other words, she
was religious, but lost. And I wonder about some of you
here this morning. You know, I pray over and over
again, Martha and I do, that people who may be coming here
for the first time, or they may have been here a long time, they
may be family, they may be friends, they may be visitors who've just
come for the very first time, and they may have all kinds of
religious garb. But they have never knelt at
the feet of Jesus and looked into his lovely face and said,
I'm sorry for my sin. I'm grateful that your dear son
died in my place and rose victoriously and triumphantly and is alive
forevermore. Hallelujah to the Lamb. All right, so we take life, service,
and motive. It involves examination and distribution,
rewards, not judgment. And let me tell you, it will
be perfect, impartial, and thorough. So I need to think of my life,
don't I? What about my attitudes? What
about my actions? What about my imaginations? I was just reading something
about that this past week. How often our imaginations get
us in trouble. By that I mean imagination can
activate action. And I was listening to somebody
this morning mentioning the book of Ephesians, how doctrine should
determine our behavior, our deportment. Now, what I'm saying here is
this, the truth of Scripture should change every arena of
my life. So, let's turn now to 1 Corinthians
3, as we develop this just a little more. All right? Here we are. This exam of character and motivation
will determine what is destructible and indestructible. Are you with
me? 1 Corinthians 3, we'll begin
reading at verse 10. According to the grace of God,
which is given unto me as a wise master builder, I have laid the
foundation and another buildeth thereon, but let every man take
heed how he buildeth thereon." Notice now, the Spirit of God
is speaking to you and to me. Take heed! Don't be sloppy. Don't be indifferent. Don't be
apathetic. Don't just slide by. Can I say by the seat of the
britches? Will you allow me to use that colloquialism? I'm saying
the Bible is saying you need to be serious, dedicated, surrendered,
yielded, if you will. Let every man take heed. Stop. Listen. obey. For other foundation can no man
lay than that is laid which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man
build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stone, they
would be imperishable, indestructible. These are predicated upon the
grace of God and energized by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Now,
look at the contrast. It's a startling contrast. If
any man build gold, silver, precious stone, but notice, wood, hay,
stubble, perishable, destructible. Those things that are what? Predicated
upon the flesh. The spirit of man, not the spirit
of God. Now, let me ask you something.
Is that ever a struggle or a contest in your life? Do we sometimes
want glory ourselves? Or we're doing this because this
appeals to us? And regardless of what the Bible
says, we're going to do it our way? Have you heard it said,
my way or the highway? I trust that none of us say that
to God. And we probably would never articulate or verbalize
it. But our actions and our attitudes
could vividly and emphatically betray us. Let's read on. Every man's work
shall be made manifest, revealed. For the day shall declare it.
That's the day of the Lord. Because it shall be revealed
by fire. Fire. That is a word that indicates
the intensity, the exactness of this examination and evaluation. The fire will consume it. I don't
know whether I ever told this or not, but this roommate of
mine that I told you about studying, there was a house fire in Carlisle,
and he and I went to the fire. And boy, the house is, I mean,
burning. And here's the professor of English,
my professor. And I said to my friend, you
know, that house is going to burn down. McGill was the professor's
name. And he overheard me telling my,
some of you school teachers, would you do this? Now, if you
heard one of your pupils say to one of the others, hey, this
house is going to burn down. Would you walk over there and
say, Terry, it's not burning down, it's burning
up. Because the material is consumed. Yeah. You get it? Yeah. Now,
the house came down, but the material consumed. Look, that's
many, many years ago, and I still remember it. I'm going to see
if you remember it when you're at a fire. But my point here
is that, hey, the fire is penetrating. You know, Cherry Flats? had the
fire. We learned that, what, last Wednesday
night, didn't we? And Brian Lloyd had a picture
that Ken Smith, you know, that's the church that Ken and Janelle
pastored for several years before they went to West Virginia. And
I've been there and spoken several times when he was pastor. The
garage next door caught fire, and hey, the church caught fire
and burned Up, but to the ground. Okay? So, hey, I'm saying to you, it
is intense, the fire. It is perfect, impartial, and
thorough. As a result, now remember, not
only is Christ the evaluator, but the rewarder. And what is
it? I need to tell you. He's giving
out crowns. And we won't deal with them.
I preached on those five crowns. They're the victor's crowns.
Christ alone has the kingly crown. But you know, those crowns are
given to us in order that we might give them to the Lord Jesus.
So don't go around. Don't think you're going to go
around up there and say, boy, Terry, look, I've got five crowns.
You already got three. Or I'll say, hey, Blaze, I think
I got four. It looks like you already got
one. No offense, I need your help
to get off of here, please. But my point is this, my point
is this, class, that the crowns are only given to the capacity
temporarily that we might present them. What is the chief end of
man? Remember the Westminster Shorter
Catechism? What is the chief end of man?
To glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. You and I can never
enjoy Him unless we are what? Glorifying Him. And one of the
ways is what? What I have as a result of God's
marvelous grace those crowns, the capacity, the ability, the
desire, the wherewithal to lay at His feet and to glorify Him
forever. And then we have the marriage
of the Lamb. And we'll have to deal with that
another time. So come back when pastor's on
vacation and I have an opportunity to speak. But I want to say to
you that the three key future events for the church are the
rapture, the judgment seat of Christ, and the marriage of the
Lamb. Let me just whet your appetite.
You know, the marriage of the Lamb, I got news for you. You're
going to be there. if you're in Christ. Because
here is the bride and the bridegroom. And all these other weddings
are going to pale into nothingness. You know, I was reading where
the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton cost 34, hold
your seat, million dollars. including the additional security. But listen to this. You got your
seat belt fastened? When Prince Charles and Princess
Di were married, in today's economy, it is estimated to be a hundred
million dollars. Fantastic, isn't it? But let
me tell you something. There's no marriage like this.
You know, the body, the Bride of Christ, is mentioned several
times in Scripture. The Fellowship of the Unashamed,
those from Pentecost to the Rapture, are often called the Bride, the
Building, the Body. But in this context, it's the
Bride. And I was thinking, are you prepared
for that wedding? Years ago, when I was in Lancaster
County, we had two big weddings the same day. And we had one
earlier, and they used the same flowers, decorations, everything. So we had one early in order
that these were big weddings, that the wedding could be held,
the people could dismiss and be on their way, and then there
was time to bring the crowd in for the second wedding. And I
can remember, maybe not particularly those, but brides across the
years, you know, they would do, I would say, hours and hours
on their attire. Some of you mothers probably
went with your daughter to more than one shopping center, to
mall. to a big store, to pick out that
gown. I've seen hairdressers come to
the church to do that last touch-up on the hair. Pedicures, manicures,
all kinds of... We've got to get that just right. Cosmetics. You got it. The general appearance for the
ceremony. Yeah, we got to make sure that
dad's hanging on or allowing her to hang on his arm just in
a special way. And I'd be at the front of the
church and, oh, that big smile. Sometimes I'd look out the corner
of my eye at the groom. What am I saying? And then there
was the reception. Sometimes they'd take the veil
off. And then they'd go somewhere
and change their clothes when they left in the car for the
honeymoon. Think of it. Yeah, you probably have this
experience in your own family. I want to ask you, are you giving
a lot of attention and detail to meet the Lord in the rapture
of the church, to be at the judgment seat of Christ, and to be there
as the bride of the bridegroom. Friend, it's serious business. We need to live in the light
of eternity. Don't you want to hear well done?
Thou good and faithful servant. Thou hast been faithful and just
over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many
things. Enter into the joy of the Lord.
Don't be satisfied with the second best. First of all, know that
you are in Christ. That you are genuinely saved.
And secondly, be sold out to the Lamb. who was for sinners
slain. Let us pray. Our Father, we thank
Thee today for the wonderful truth of Thy Word. We praise
Thee for the fact that it's distinct and unique and forever settled
in heaven. We're mindful, O God, that the
Holy Spirit is our illuminator, our instructor, our convictor,
and our guide. And I pray today, Father, in
these quiet moments, while our heads are bowed and our eyes
are closed, if there's someone today in this auditorium, maybe
a family member, a friend, perhaps a visitor, but all are known
to thee." If they're not sure they're salvation, if they're not convinced that
they belong to you, if they don't have the confidence
that heaven is their eternal home, oh, I'd love to remember
them in prayer. And Father, we're not going to
ask them to come forward, but we'd love to talk to them after
the service. Is there someone today who would
raise his or her hand and say, Terry, please remember me in
prayer? I'm not sure if the Lord were
to come today or I were to breathe my last that I'd be in heaven. Anyone at all? No one looking
around. This is not for public display. It's not to embarrass anybody.
But I want to bring you to the place of decision and give you
an opportunity. Behold, this is the accepted
time, the day of salvation. Don't put off till tomorrow what
you should do today. Anyone? Now, let me ask this. Are there any believers?
