Welcome to a broadcast which I've called the Emergency Gospel Broadcast. I'm David MacArthur, the host of this channel, and the question arises, why would I call this the Emergency Gospel Broadcast? Well, the answer is because here in England we are facing a breakdown of our society. After many years of godlessness and of breaking God's commandments and blaspheming his name, suddenly everything is breaking down. For those of us who are Christians, there should be no great surprise. God is long-suffering to us when we are ungodly, and yet he's long-suffering, not so that we could continue in our sins, but so that we might repent and turn back to him. And it seems that England is a country which has not taken that time and not listened to what God has had to say in his word and through his preachers, and therefore she is now ripe for judgment. Is this an emergency? Does it warrant the word emergency? Yes, it is. We are facing in England today an existential crisis. We are facing a war between two different worldviews, neither of them Christian, each of which must stand against the other or be swept aside. Whichever worldview is swept aside first or pulls out or backs down first will be overcome. There are those who want to bring about a new worldview here in England, for example, the worldview of Islam. And that's very much at the heart of what the riots going on in England are about. Is this an emergency? Yes, it's an emergency. There were 30 riots planned yesterday. Tonight, there are 100. They're not called riots. They're called protests in different towns and cities in England. We're watching the situation break down. There seems to be no focus or center. There seems to be no true authority that can handle or manage this. And there's no great surprises there. If we've forgotten God, if God is the one who's sending these judgments on us, then the only answer, and this is the premise of this whole series of broadcasts that I hope to do, is that the only answer is that we must turn back to God through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. These are dangerous and difficult times. We're on the edge of the precipice, and perhaps some don't realize how close we are to the edge of this precipice. It's an emergency. GB News today is talking about the possibility of anarchy in England, not jokingly or speculatively or possibly, but seriously. It's at the door. Nobody knows which way things are going to go, but at this time, There is the real risk of serious bloodshed on our streets. This we repudiate. This we deplore. I would say this. Do not attend these protests. I would say do not under any circumstances perform any kind of violent act. The answer doesn't lie with violence. It doesn't. lie in confrontation. It lies with the Lord Jesus Christ, and the purpose of this podcast will be to persuade and convince people that Jesus is the only answer in these situations. Sonya and Bernadette, welcome. And therefore, by God's grace, I'm seeking to change things up a gear. I'm seeking to do everything I possibly can to be salt and light in these days, just as we all should be as Christians. So we're looking at this first, and these will be shorter podcasts than the normal ones, shorter broadcasts. But in Matthew's gospel, chapter 14, Jesus says to his disciples, ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. So let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Jesus says, ye are the light of the world. We as Christians are the only ones who have the answer. We are the light of the world. If there was no light in this world, then there would be nothing but darkness. And our fear is that at the end of this, there may be no church, there may be no Christianity left in England, for example, maybe in our countries, other countries, for I'm sure this is not applying to England only. Of course, there are those who will say, well, this is due to Soros, or this is due to Islam, or this is due to X, or to Y, or to Z. But the truth of the matter is, this situation has occurred because we have forgotten God. We've forgotten the God of the Bible. We have forsaken the Lord Jesus Christ. We have turned aside and turned away from this gospel. gospel that we believe, that only turning back to God through Jesus Christ will deliver this nation from that anarchy and from that darkness which is encroaching on every side towards us. We are the light of the world. So the first thing is we are the light of the world. Christians are the light of the world. Only Christians, only those who are born again of God's spirit, who know Jesus Christ are the light of the world. Light cannot come from anywhere else. Jesus has declared us the light of the world. And here in this passage, he said that we should be like, um, that we should be like a city set on a hill. And of course it's very obvious what that means. that we should be like a city with all its lights and people on the plains all around can look up to that hill and see that city shining brightly in the darkness. That's how we should be, not in holy huddles, disappeared and unseen and unheard, keeping our heads down, hoping for the end of the world, but standing up and letting the light that is in us. Light is in us. That's the light of the gospel. We have a derived light. We are the light of the world. We are the light of the world and we are a derived light from the Lord Jesus himself. He said, I am the light of the world. Jesus also said, didn't he? He that follows me shall not walk in darkness. Around us is darkness on every hand, but we are the light of the world. You won't find that light in the majority of people who are protesting or rioting in these days. You won't find that light in Islam. You cannot find it in Islam. You can only find it when a person finds Jesus Christ to be their savior from sin. So we are the only light of the world, and if we don't shine, no one else can. There will only be darkness. Now that means that in these days, we must shine, and we must shine now. There is such a need in England. There is such a threat upon the nation. Now think of it like this. A great storm is coming, and the wise captain is trimming his sails already. Already we have the first squalls. The boat has been hit by squalls of wind and heeled over on her side, but there's just time to bring the sails in, to batten the hatches down, and the crew are working really hard to do this, because this is just the first breezes compared to the storm that will come. And if we don't see an answer to the tensions and the problems in our society here in England, for example, now, there will be no answer, not until after much blood has been shed. If we don't speak up for the truth, if we don't stand up for righteousness, if we don't Call the nation to repentance, and if the nation doesn't repent, then there's no other answer. That's why I'm starting this emergency broadcast now, not when it's too late, not afterwards. That's why there is a call going out now to Christians to let your light shine. Jesus commanded us, let your light shine. repurposing, as someone said, refocusing, reprioritizing what we do. In the midst of this maelstrom, I want to be a Christian. I want to be counted for the Lord Jesus Christ. Maybe that will get me or you into very great trouble for being Christians, for speaking up, for saying Jesus is the answer. But I want to be a Christian and I want to be counted as one who serves the Lord Jesus Christ and may he give me and may he give you the grace to do so in these days. But now is the time to stand up and let our light shine. It's a time for prayer. It's a time not just to pray a little bit or to have our prayer meetings when we go along and pray a bit and come home again. It's a time when the churches should be open day and night for prayer, when the people of God can meet together and intercede and cry out. It's not in your country yet, it will be soon. John, welcome. And Sally, welcome, I think I said. So time for prayer. It's a time for prayer, above all prayer, crying out to God for mercy, crying out to God to raise up his cause, crying out to God to send forth preachers. The gospel must be preached. I've said, I want to go where the riots are, not to join in the riots. Absolutely not. I repudiate that. But to preach the gospel to the rioters and to call them to repentance. Oh, I want to do that. To be where the trouble is, to speak up for the Lord Jesus Christ there. Whether God will send me there or not, I do not know. Others are going into that kind of situation. I know a man who's preaching in one of these areas now in the Muslim area, preaching the gospel. And I pray that God would have mercy on and help him right now to preach God's word there in London. It's a time for prayer. It's a time for testimony. We need to really stand up and be counted for the Lord. It's a time for holding fast, not not falling away, not backsliding, but holding fast in the Lord Jesus Christ, recognizing that the times we're living in are evil, are dangerous, are heading for lawlessness and the darkness of the kingdom of Antichrist. It's a time for holding firm in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let your light shine, Jesus commands us. We are the light of the world. There is no answer for England, but the gospel of Jesus Christ. And that answer won't come if it's not preached, if it's not declared. Calling to the pastors of our nation to speak up for the truth, to change up a gear, to really preach the gospel, to really call the people of God together to prayer, to really set an example in Christian service and witness June, welcome. I'm going to be doing, and Antoinette, welcome. I'm God willing going to be doing three to five live broadcasts a day, studio broadcasts, and I've got to increase the amount of open air work, because if I don't get out and preach the gospel, others won't. Gospel must be heard on the streets. Name of Jesus must be lifted up in the public and amongst the public, and there must be a call to repentance from sin and to a living, saving faith in Jesus Christ. The only person who can deliver us in this situation is God. And he will only deliver us if there's widespread weeping and mourning and lamenting and crying out to him in repentance for sin. And that will only happen if the gospel is preached. And the gospel will only be preached if preachers preach it. We need to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. No messing around, no waiting, no half measures because the storm is coming. Because we are on the very verge of the abyss. Because if we don't nip this in the bud, if we don't stop this now, if this doesn't change now, nothing will save us from falling into that abyss. We must, as Christians, let our light shine. And even if we are few in number, and even if our churches are weak, and even if we have been mocked and scorned and ridiculed for generations now, yet we are the light of the world. You are the light of the world. You are the light of the world. And we must let our light shine. So everything that's going on in England now is real. It's terrible, terrifying. It needs solving now or risks degenerating much further. And the gospel is the only answer. Only the gospel of Jesus Christ can save this nation from anarchy and from Islam. So. Let us gird up the loins of our heart. Let us serve the Lord Jesus. Let us follow the Lord Jesus. Let us be prayerful. Let us be active in serving God. But let us be awakened in these days to the days in which we live. Let's pray that God would fill us with his spirit and anoint us for prayer and intercession. Now, I'm going to leave that there as far as this goes. I'm coming back to do another broadcast at 7 p.m. and then hopefully one at 9 p.m. And if I can keep this going and perhaps do at least five short broadcasts like this a day, the hope is that this will be an encouragement to the people of God and a gospel witness as well. But I've got to change up a gear. We are facing the risk of extreme violence and societal breakdown in England because of our sins, because of our godlessness, because of our transgression of the laws of God, because of our trampling underfoot of the blood of Jesus Christ. Do you know Jesus Christ? He is the answer. Have you found him? He is the saviour of the world. Have you returned to Him? Have you repented of your sins? Do you believe on Him? Are you trusting Jesus Christ alone, if you are, well and good? But if not, you need to repent and turn from your sins, and God will have mercy on you when you exercise faith in Jesus Christ. When you look to Jesus alone, He is the Savior of the world. God will have mercy on you and save you from your sins. May God have mercy upon England and upon all of our nations in this day. Father, we pray and ask that you would, at this time, revive your church. Oh, that you call the people of God together for prayer. Oh, that there be a mighty cry going up to heaven. Lord, have mercy on us. In your wrath, remember mercy. We know that you're handing us over to our sins. We know that we have not received what we deserve. We know that you've been good to us. We know that you're full of mercy and loving kindness. We know that you sent Jesus into the world. We know that he's been mocked and scorned and set at naught by the world. Father, in your wrath, remember mercy. Oh, Lord, strengthen those who are preaching the gospel. Send forth your word onto the streets, Lord. Awaken the rioters, not to violence, but to repentance, Lord. And oh Lord, turn our nation, turn us back again to you and have mercy upon us. Father, deliver us from the darkness of Islam. Have mercy upon us and save us from our sins. Oh Lord, have mercy and remember our nation, we ask and pray. And I pray for this ministry as well, Lord, that you'd give me wisdom to know when to speak, how much to speak, what to say, Lord, and that this ministry will be used to fire up and encourage, strengthen, help and bless the people of God and call sinners to repentance. But Father, we ask that you'd help us in these days to wake up and see the days in which we're living and to remain firm and to hold fast in the gospel. And this we ask and pray in Jesus' precious name. Forgive us for our sins. Cleanse us in his blood. Thank you for his death on our behalf. We commend ourselves to you now in Jesus' precious name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Well, that's the first broadcast and there may be hundreds more to come. But we can't sit back and do nothing. We cannot wait for the disaster to occur. We must act now. And 100 protests in England, that means 100 potential riots in England tonight, and how many tomorrow and the day after? And whichever side backs down, the other wins. This is not a good situation, not by any means, not by any means whatsoever. And this has all come upon us because of our sins. God willing, I'll broadcast again at 7 p.m. and then at 9 p.m. this evening, UK time. Thank you for being with us and thank you for your comments.
