Dealing with Conflict

81

Paul's second missionary journey also started in Antioch. Paul and Barnabas had been ministering there after delivering the Jerusalem Council's letter to the church. And after some days, Paul decides it would be a good idea to revisit the churches established on the first missionary journey. Barnabas wanted to take John Mark with them on the journey, but Paul rejected the proposal because he considered John Mark a deserter. And as a result of competing views Paul and Barnabas have a sharp disagreement. Therefore, Paul takes Silas and they head for Syria and Cilicia; and Barnabas and John Mark sail for Cyprus. For some time, the conflict remains unresolved, but we know from other passages in the New Testament eventually there was reconciliation.
