Samuel's Farewell Discourse

The drama of calling Israel's first king continues. We have watched as the LORD listened to Israel's plea for a king and chose Saul a tall handsome man who did not want the job. God worked providentially to accomplish his anointing, his announcement to the nation as the king, and finally in orchestrating a divine deliverance to put Saul into the job as the first monarch in Israel. Now all the who's who in Israel gathered at Gilgal for the gala celebration to reestablish Saul as king. While everyone wants to get together and sing “Everything is beautiful,” Samuel changes the mood of the party.
