Esther For Such a Time as This

75

Ecclesiastes 9:18 but one sinner destroyeth much good.
• Like Achan who took of the accursed thing.
• Does the opposite hold true? James 5:16
Vs 3 mentions mourning, fasting, weeping, wailing but no mention of repentance or prayer or God.
• Emotions run amuck when the flesh is weary.
Luke 22:45-46 Disciples sleeping for sorrow—Jesus says "Rise up and pray."
Vs 4 Esther tries to dress up the problem by dressing up Mordecai
• Esther's solution is like giving to charity to feed the belly without being concerned for the soul.
Vs 5 Esther in the palace does not know what the problem is or why
• This is the problem with politician who are detached from the public.
Vs 8 Mordecai told Esther to keep quiet concerning her Jewish heritage and now she is come out of the closet. ("her people")
• This is the danger of raising children but not giving them an appreciation for their heritage. Mordecai charged Esther NOT to shew her kindred or people that she was a Jew.
• Consider the examples found in the early church, especially concerning Paul (Acts 9:23-27, 13:50, 14:5, 19, 16:22-23, 20:3, 21:28-31, 23:12-22, 25:3, 2 Corinthians 1:8-10, 11:23-29; 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16)
• Paul gets saved in Acts chapter 9. Obviously, he is a new Christian at this time.
Vs 9-11 Back and forth—no email or texting.
