He Whom Thou Lovest is Sick

207

It has never been uncommon, nor unique, that those whom Christ loves often suffer under grief and heartache. And, yet, these have often proven to be ambassadors of God's all- sufficient grace, as He graciously and sovereignly uses such grief and pain in revealing unto His own a greater display of His unchanging love and mercy!
In this text, we see the great compassion and love which Christ has for His own, and, that, though at first it might appear as though Christ is unaffected and unmoved by the sickness of one He loves, the delaying of His deliverance was to greatly glorify God!
Oh Beloved! what rich blessings are contained in these words. May they excite and encourage our hearts, as God's children, under times of our own grief and pain.
For in 'all our afflictions, He is afflicted.'
