One Flesh

One flesh is the centerpiece of what the marriage relationship is to be. It is a legal status as well as an ideal for which to
strive. It is extreme closeness of every part of life in every way – closeness that is unique to the marriage relationship. There are six
ways to strive for it. The first three are: 1) Seek grace from God, 2) Set your spouse as your highest earthly priority, and 3) Cultivate
and nurture intimacy and emotional closeness so there is nothing between you relationally. This requires a lot of loving
communication.
