The Unthinkable
God, in Micah 6, has subpoenaed and summoned the nation to His court of judgment. And, through His mercy, He's exposing their wickedness and reminding them of His righteousness and what He requires for His people, that they may: believe right, be right, do right, love right, and live right ( Micah 6:8).
It's hard to fathom how people can hurt a little child... much less a grandmother doing the unthinkable to her grandchildren. But pride, power, and self-centered living have caused so many to abandon the God-given gift of natural affection for their own. In our Nesting with Jesus reading in Micah 6, we find the unholy, unjust, and ungodly influence of generational corruption at work. Therefore, I went back and looked in Kings and Chronicles, where we are told how a grandmother, Athaliah, Ahab's daughter, and King Ahaziah's mother, killed all her grandsons and any other royal heirs, except one, when she saw an opportunity to seize the power of the throne. This thinking infiltrated the entire society and everyone is only doing what is right in their own eyes.
Greed and selfishness led her to take drastic steps to abandon her family and go after what she's always wanted. Her desire to rule... to be out front, yes, the center of attention and the decision maker, superseded any love and compassion and duty, as a mother, to protect her own family. She cut all ties and freed herself to run after her dreams.
What a tragedy... a tragedy we repeatedly see among us even in our day. Ladies, guard your hearts, for out of it proceeds all the issues of life. This culture we live in will push and manipulate you to think you're missing out on a big world out there. Ask
