Ecclesiastes 7, chapter 7, verse
23. Today I'm going to preach to
you about hippie love culture abounding. Hippie love culture
abounds. Solomon says, all this I have
proved by wisdom. I said I will be wise, but it
was far from me. that which is far off and exceeding
deep, who can find it out? I applied my heart to know, and
to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and
to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness. Now when you first read this, It can almost appear that this
is a justification for a Gnostic, hippie type of knowledge. When Solomon says that to know
the wickedness of folly, he's not saying that he has to go
experience homosexuality, God forbid, to understand that that
is wrong. Nor is he saying that this uncertainty
that he found means that we can't be certain of anything. So what
I want to preach to you today about is the fact that hippie
love culture, the values of the hippie movement in the 1960s,
a profound change came to the world in the 1960s. The me generation. And many say today we are in
the me, me, me generation. And that is my point. That some
of the foundational principles of the counterculture, the hippie
generation, are alive and well with us today in Christian churches. And it's very dangerous. A very,
very important sermon today. Dear Father, we do pray You will
bless the preaching of Thy Word, bless the ground that I preach
upon, Father. Let there be changes made. Let
there be discernment in love and how we act, that we end up
not as hippies and rebels, Gnostics, New Agers. In the name of the
Lord Jesus, amen. Now there's a right way to be
wise. It's found first of all in the inspired Holy Bible. If
you want to be wise, you need to read the Bible. If you want
to be wise, read the Bible. That is where wisdom is found.
The mouth of God gives wisdom. Then we're told in the Bible,
that wisdom is comprehended through studying the Scriptures, not
just reading, studying the Bible. We're told that wisdom is through
the fear of God, that you need the fear of the Lord. It's the
beginning or foundation of wisdom. Then the Bible tells you through
the rod and reproof you get wisdom. By responding to discipline,
by having a loving parent rebuke you, discipline you. It makes
you wise. It really does. It makes you
a wise person. We're told that obedience makes
us wise. We're told that respect for authority
makes us wise. We're told that humility helps
us to be wise. We're told that if you're willing
to grow in maturity, that makes you wise. All of these things
and more are diametrically opposed to the way the world and the
God of this world tells you to seek wisdom. Basically, it tells
you to stay away from the Bible, that it's not through authority,
that it's not through rod and reprove. It's through toleration. It's not through humility. It's
through pride and loving yourself. It's through being a baby and
being immature about everything. So you have two paths to wisdom. One will give you the wisdom
of this world and Satan, and the other, the wisdom of God. Now we know the serpent. We know
what type of wisdom he's going to tempt Eve to try to obtain. Let's read it in Genesis 3. We're
not ignorant of his devices. We have it right here in Genesis
chapter 3. Ah, do something experiential here. Then your eyes shall be opened,
and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And notice when
the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant
to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she
took the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave also unto her husband
with her, and he did eat. Now the serpent certainly lied,
but it was more of a trick. In one sense, she did have her
eyes open because she put herself in the place of God. And she
decided, I will decide what's right and wrong. Don't ever put
yourself in the place of God. Never usurp God's role in defining
morality. And she did, in one sense, know
evil. She experienced it. She became
evil. But this is a wisdom that you're
told to avoid. God does not want you to know
evil by becoming evil. 1 Corinthians 14 says, Brethren,
be not children in understanding, how be it in malice be ye children,
but in understanding be men. Don't get out here and say, oh,
well, I want to experience things. I've got to know for myself.
No, don't be foolish. Don't be a fool. Know from the
Bible. Know from other people and their
experience. Don't go out here and be a fool. Romans 16, I would have you wise
unto that which is good and simple concerning evil. He doesn't mean
that he does not want you to be discerning. He wants your
love to abound more and more with judgment and knowledge.
He wants us to prove all things and be wise. But when He says
simple concerning evil, He means He wants you to not experience
evil. like the world is experiencing,
like the devil wants you to experience, like Eve experienced evil. Oh, her eyes were opened, all
right. She knew what evil was like, because she became evil.
She became a rebel. There are some people that have
practiced evil, and they become very subtle, like the serpent,
their father. It says in 2 Samuel 13, but Amnon
had a friend. You better watch your friends.
But Amnon had a friend. You better choose your friends
wisely. But Amnon had a friend whose
name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother. And
Jonadab was a very subtle man. Before you know it, Amnon was
raping his half-sister because of this wicked friend. Eve did
not become wise in a godly way. unless she later learned from
her sin and punishment. Satan deceived her in becoming
a fool. Listen to me. The generation of the hippies
were tempted by Satan and by Satan's servants to experience
knowledge. Go be experienced. Learn wisdom. Turn to the inner self. Turn to your inner heart. Turn
to drugs. Turn to sin. Fornication. You'll be wise. Smoke pot, smoke
marijuana, take acid. Take drugs. Live like a whore. You'll be experienced. No. No. Eve became a fool. Eve became a fool. Jeremiah 4, for my people is
foolish. They have not known me. They
are soddish. That means stupid children. They have none understanding. They are wise to do evil, but
to do good they have no knowledge. God does not want you wise to
do evil in this way. What the world calls knowledge,
God calls foolishness. So you can expect the world to
turn everything upside down, everything backwards. What God
says a man should be, He says a woman should be that. What
God says a woman should be, the devil says man should be that.
What God says is evil, Satan says is good. And vice versa. God says don't do this, you'll
be a fool. Satan says do this and you'll be wise, you'll be
experienced. You better get it while you can. Certain generations in history
have been exceedingly foolish. A generation that lacks the things
that bring wisdom bring you to this place. In the
1950s, there was a revival in some ways. Women went back home
from the workplace. But at the same time, there was
also a birth of rock and roll. Rock and roll was simply pornographic
blues brought into the white suburbs by lazy children, given, fed to lazy children, fed to suburban middle-class
kids. They're listening to pornographic
blues. There was the rise in the 1950s
of the beat generation. Beatniks, they were called. Psychologists
began to replace the pastor. People left the Bible for Dr. Spock and for psychology. And
he said, don't spank your children. It'll hinder their growth. Let
the toddler throw a fit. You don't want to delay their
maturity. A new generation began to be
raised on Hollywood and comic books. What type of teenagers and young
adults do you think this generation is going to become? They lack
all of the principles of wisdom. When the crop came in and they
began to see the harvest that they were reaping, by the late
sixties some psychologist after witnessing the rise of the me
generation, began to say, you were spocked when you should
have been spanked. And even the psychologists, even
the humanistic psychologists, some of them said, spank them,
spank them, we were wrong. It did not work. A generation arose in the 60s
without the foundations of wisdom. They did not have the Bible.
They were not disciplined. They were not mature. They were
not responsible. They were not able to take responsibility
for things. They had not humility. The serpent was ready to pray. And he began as the Pied Piper
to lead many in the 1960s to be as gods and find wisdom by
turning within. You'll find it in your heart,
the serpent said. You'll find it in the forbidden
tree. Just take this fruit, this new
drug, LSD, acid, just take it and hallucinate. Take these magic
mushrooms. Take this marijuana plant that
the Indians used to become devil possessed. Take this plant and
begin to smoke it and hallucinate. You'll find knowledge. You'll
see everything in a different way. And they began to follow
the devil. They began to follow their rock
and roll leaders and began to get into meditation and yoga
and eastern mysticism. The thing that had so cursed
India. They wanted to bring over here and curse us. So they began to chant with the
Hare Krishnas. They began to play the bongos
like the Indians and the drums and to lose their self in a chant
or a trance. They began to do drugs. Everything
was about experience. Don't knock it till you try it,
they said. Have you tried it? You got to be experienced. You're
so tight. You need to loosen up. Go with
the flow, they said. Get out from under your restrictions
and your authority. It's exactly what the devil said
to Eve, or implied. He said, you're being held back
by your father. You need to break free, what
all the Hollywood movies are pretty much saying. There's no right and wrong, said
Satan and the leaders he rose up in the 60's. Truth and morality
are relative. Each person must decide for himself. What's right for you is not right
for me. It's modern college. You go to
a modern college at a university, and you're going to be told this
in every classroom, whether it's architecture, political science,
English. No matter what your major is,
you're going to have the teacher get up and say, there is no truth. Truth is not absolute. Truth
is relative. And no matter what you learn,
you're going to leave college with this hammered into your
heart, your brain. Turn off your mind, they said. Jimi Hendrix, a rock guitar player,
arose, called himself the voodoo child.
His question was, are you experienced? Which means, do you have your
eyes open? As the devil said to Eve, that
third eye, that's on your dollar bill, that goes back to Egyptian
hermeticism, occultism. Open your eyes! Be experienced! You'll begin to see reality in
a different way. You have your standards that
your parents taught you, but if you will just do LSD one time,
it'll change your whole view of everything. Well, after studying
and doing many tests, many found out it really didn't change their
view about a lot, but it did change their view about one thing.
They began to live differently. It changed their view of truth.
Things became relative. The Hendrix Song in 1967. He
says, we'll hold hands and then we'll watch the sun rise from
the bottom of the sea. See, we're talking contradictions
here. That's the same in Buddhism, Hinduism. You have these contradictions
that kind of blow your mind, you know. Are you experienced? He asks. Have you ever been experienced? This was the cry of a whole generation. Or at least they wanted it to
be. We are now at what's called the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. Woodstock was a big outdoor concert
in New York in 1969. Jimi Hendrix played there with
a lot of other bands. It was a big event where they
camped out, did drugs. More people turned out than they
expected. So it was really a time where
people had nowhere to use the bathroom and there was mud everywhere.
In many ways it was a horrible experience. But in some ways it pictured
their ideal of everybody getting together and listening to music
and protesting authority. So they're going to have a great
50th anniversary of Woodstock. They were going to headline with
Miley Cyrus and Beyonce. How in the world does that relate?
But I guess it pretty much does. I mean, I guess that's the voice
of this generation. Wow. Vox newspaper says, Woodstock
was a beautiful, idealistic mess. The Woodstock generation was
the letdown. See, you get a whole bunch of
people together and say, why don't we just all live together? Wouldn't
that just be great? Everybody just sit around and
smoke pot and do whatever we want. Isn't that great? Well,
who's going to feed you? After a while, you've got to
eat, right? Somebody's got to work. That's why we say it's idealistic,
the idea you can just sit around and smoke pot all day. And I
guess they want the government. They want the government to actually
make that possible, that you just sit around and smoke pot
all day. Pot being marijuana. So the first thing I want you
to understand about the 1960s counterculture, hippie revolution,
it was a rejection of biblical Christianity. Next time you want
to identify with that culture, understand it was a rejection
of everything God had given us to do in the Bible. You say,
I like the hippie culture. Listen, there were some degree
of a form of godliness. Everything, no matter what it
is, is going to have a little bit of something in it that attracts
you. I'll discuss that here in a second.
But I'm looking at not so much the hippies themselves, but the
satanic leaders and communist leaders that used a bunch of
foolish children foolish young adults to do their will and destroy
this country. And they're alive and well today
in the left and the Democratic Party and much of the Republican
Party. It's a rejection of the basic
foundations of society. It's a rejection of traditional
morality. It's a rejection of ordained
authority, beginning with God all the way down to fathers. The Beatles, who came about in
the early 60s. By the mid-60s, they led the
way to replace Christianity with Eastern mysticism, to turn within
by drugs and mindless meditation. They had a big concert in 1967
in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, called the Human Be-In. The hippie leaders led the whole
crowd in chanting Aum, O-M, which is what the Hindus used to silence
their mind to become devil-possessed. So you got a whole crowd of young
people. They don't even know what they're
doing. They said, oh, it's beautiful, it's beautiful. You're practicing
devilish occultism. What do you think is going to
come out of that? In the Salem witch trials, right before, they
were getting into folk magic. The girls that we know ended
up being devil-possessed and pointing out many of the Christians
in town and calling them witches. That horrible thing, as many
observers later in history looked back and said, we better not
ever mess with occultism again. Every time you mess with occultism,
something bad happens, something horrible. There was a revival
of occultism in the 1920s in Germany. It led to Nazism and
the horrible bloodshed of Hitler. And I could go on and on. Although today, some of the outward
forms of the hippie revolution may be changed. The basic idea
of there being no right and wrong, and that knowledge is found through
subjective experience, and that drugs bring enlightenment, and
that yoga is cool, all of that is still with us today like you
would not believe. In fact, I would say more so
than even in the 1960s. In other words, what a few hippies
embraced ended up saturating America. and becoming mainstream. I call your attention to 2 Timothy
3, in the last days men shall be lovers of their own selves,
disobedient to parents themselves, me generation, self love. He goes on to say they will not
endure sound doctrine. He says in 1 Timothy that in
the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to
doctrines of devils, seducing spirits. They're going to forbid
to marry. The feminists say marriage is
wrong, it's slavery for a woman. You must be free from marriage
and you can't eat meat. Even the clean animals that God
has ordained for food, you can't eat them. You must be a vegetarian. All of that began to abound.
It's just the old New Age. The same ideas were put forth
by the seances of the 1800s and the witch occult feminists. This
vegetarianism for religious purposes to bring you enlightenment. This
forbidding to marry and practice free love, fornicating with everybody. It brings disease, and that's
exactly what it brought in the 60s. And it brought abortion
in the 70s. This free love, this promiscuity
brought disease, it brought AIDS, and it brought homosexuality,
and it brought the death of millions of little babies. The book of Jude said in the
last days they will despise government. They will not be afraid to speak
evil of dignities, such as fathers, pastors. But it said they'll have a form
of godliness. See, what the Bible is saying is the hippie culture
is going to spread around the world and in your churches you
will have people that are hippies. I don't mean just back to nature
people that kind of tend away from materialism. I'm talking
about the very foundations that the devil gave to Eve. They will
really be eastern mystics. A satanic view of love with satanic
values. A satanic pursuit of wisdom that
is not wisdom. What you'll find is many of the
outsiders that are attracted to the hippie style of life are
often people who not only despise authority, but can't really take
it. They're very overly sensitive,
emotional people that do not like to be told what to do. And
they get attracted to that anti-authority hippie movement. I've seen it
with my own eyes. Not only does the hippie movement
encourage and promote it, but people are already many times
rebellious when they get caught up into that whole thing. Paul wanted your love to abound
in knowledge and judgment, but they end up hating authority,
hating reproof, so they end up without wisdom. And they end
up with a love that is a selfish love. It's that secret love that
the Bible talks about. The Bible says open rebuke is
better than secret love. And you ought not hate your brother,
but you better rebuke him and not suffer sin upon him. They
don't understand that. The only thing they rebuke is
anybody that tells them not to do the drugs and the fornication
and the rebellion and the adultery. There's a documentary called
The Hippie Temptation. It was put out in 1967. Very,
very enlightening evaluation. Please, please, listen to this. The documentary says, back in
the 60s, the word love is used by them a lot. Isn't this a fake
kind of love? We asked Dr. Duke Fisher of UCLA's
Neuropsychiatric Institute. Now, already, we're messed up
in the 60s. They didn't say we asked Pastor
So-and-so. We asked Pastor Dr. Greg Dixon. They didn't say that. They could
have. But no, everybody wants to hear
what the psychologist has to say. Nevertheless, in this case,
he did have a pretty good evaluation of things. He says, the primary
reason that you hear so much talk about love, love sessions,
love groups, love ins, is because many of the acid users have the
most difficulty with love. They talk about loving humanity
in general, but they have a great deal of difficulty loving one
other person, one certain thing that will in turn make certain
demands on them. Now you think about this. This
is profound. This is profound. You don't need some psychology
to blind your eyes. This is profound. This hippie
love today Many of these people that go around and talk about
love are the most unloving people. They talk about love in the abstract.
But if you ever test them in regard to love, well, let's see
your loyalty. Let's see your faithfulness. Let's see whether
you betray somebody. Let's see how you love when it
doesn't go your way, when you don't get your way. Let's see
how you love your parents. Let's see how you love your husband,
love your wife. Let's see how you love your pastor
and your church. Let's see how you love anybody
that tells you something contrary to what your flesh wants to do.
You'll find these people don't have love at all. They will hate
you. They will despise you. They will betray you. But yet they talk about love,
love, love. You gotta watch out. If somebody
comes to you talking love, love, love, love, love, they might
be the most hateful people you've ever met. You better watch out for them. He goes on to say the kind of
love they have is a very narcissistic kind of love, very selfish. Love
for love's sake! But there's very little real
love. It's a facade that can't last. In the name of love, there
is a great deal of hostility, even. The numbness caused by
drugs makes them extremely self-righteous. And he goes on and gives examples
of things he witnessed, a hippie girl trying to give a flower
to somebody, a policeman. And the policeman said, I don't
want it. And she became very hostile with him. You will accept
my love. You will accept my view of love.
You will accept my method of love, my form of love. or we
will reject you, we will be very upset. What's behind all of this? The deceived young people, they're
not your enemy. Satan is your enemy. The communists that used all
of this and helped Bring it to pass. They are your enemy. The people that want to destroy
America and make a one world government, and they use the
hippie revolution and the feminist revolution to do it, all for
one thing, to destroy the family. What was Satan, the serpent,
telling Eve? Be experienced. You'll never
know until you break through from the confinements. God is
holding you back. You've got to break free. A child
gets 18, 19 years old, the devil begins to hit him and say, you've
got to break free. You've got to be experienced.
You better watch what you experience. You better watch what you break
free from, or you might end up like the prodigal. Regardless of the servants that
the devil uses, the Marxist and one-worlders and such like, there's
something else you need to know. This all has an occult foundation. You'll never understand what
happened in the 60s unless you understand the religious occultism,
the spiritual occultism behind it all. As far as the Marxist-Communist
foundations of the 1960s. You should read David Noble's
1966 book, Rhythm, Riots, and Revolution. And then his later
book, The Marxist Minstrels. And he shows the outright communism
embraced by these folk singers and 1960s hippies. their leaders. See, they were
being led to destroy the Constitution so they can bring communism. That's why they were against
the Vietnam War. Some of them just were against violence because
they were pacifists. But you must understand at the
heart of this whole thing was a hatred for anything that is
against communism. No matter what you believe about
Vietnam and our involvement and not finishing or whatever it
is, the one thing here that we need to understand is this hippies
movement was an eastern mystical occult communist movement. Many people miss this Marxist
plot to destroy the family. but even more miss the occult
foundation. They called it the dawning of
the age of Aquarius. That we are leaving this Pisces
age and we're moving into this age of Aquarius which is feminine,
love of mother earth. When the feminine values begin
to take of tolerance and compassion and gentleness and all the things
that relate to motherhood when a baby is young, that's what
we are. We're all just these mothers,
you know, and we just need to love everybody in that way. Well, that's so blind because
there's more to love than just nursing a child. There comes
a time when you need to wean the child. There comes a time
when you need to discipline the child. There comes a time when
you need to charge them and command them and help them grow up. You can read Marilyn Ferguson's
1980 book, The Aquarian Conspiracy, if you want to see how everything
from corporations to organizations to Marxists and Communists, everybody,
began to work together to bring this great revolution in the
1960s, as the musical hair blasphemously
showed. If you want to see the occult
foundations of it all, you must understand that Led Zeppelin,
the lead guitarist, handed out satanic Bibles at his concerts. This is what led to my salvation.
As I began to read that, I began to understand that if I'm about
to go national, if I'm about to get a record contract, I don't
have anything to say. I felt very empty. The same thing happened to many
others about that time. I realized that in some way,
no matter what, I'm going to be a leader. And if he's handing
out the satanic Bible, what am I going to hand out? What do
I have to say? And that led to my search and
awakening. It was a satanic foundation. Groups began to arise. Black
Sabbath. Mocking God. Aleister Crowley, the witch who
called himself the Beast of Revelation, the pedophile witch, satanic
leader. The Beatles put his picture on
their album. I could go on and on showing
the satanic foundations of the 60s. Led Zeppelin, the whole idea
is you have a lead balloon, very opposite. Opposites attract,
yin and yang. The idea is we are merging male
and female together. Why? Because they believe that
in the book of Genesis, if you look at the occult interpretation
of Genesis, they believe God was androgynous and male and
female were not separated. That God made man perfect and
he was an androgynous being. They believe the fall is what
divided into male and female. And if we want to get perfect,
we've got to go back to the Garden of Eden and we've got to become
androgynous. So you have Robert Plant, the
lead singer, singing like a girl and sometimes singing like a
man. And sometimes he has masculine power, but sometimes he's a girl. He's wearing women's clothes.
He's got long hair. He's singing like a girl. As
D. Snyder said, it's androgyny,
it's Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, all of it is just androgyny.
The mixing, it's getting back to Genesis, what they believe
is Genesis. No, that's not how God made,
God in the beginning made them male and female, that's what
our Lord said. But the occultic and the apocryphal sayings of
Jesus. They say, oh no, the kingdom
of God will come when you women renounce the dress of your sex
and you begin to live like men and act like men and you become
men. When you become men, the wonderful kingdom of God will
come. We'll be in paradise. So, the Satanists believe that
we've got to get back to androgyny. Men have to become women and
women have to become men. Opposites must be merged together.
Lead, zeppelin, guns, roses, it must all come together. This occultism like drugs and
eastern mysticism and the experiential knowledge of evil is going on
today. Androgyny abounds like never
before. They were dreaming about such a day in the 60s. Now you've
got public libraries where you've got transvestites reading stories
to little children. You've got businesses allowing
men to dress as women. In fact, they say in some places
it's against the law. Federal law, 666, section 666
says you cannot discriminate against. If he says he's a woman,
you gotta say he's a woman. What I'm trying to tell you is
that the hippie foundations are alive and well today, and they're
in your churches. And people are embracing it,
and they don't even know what they're embracing. They think
it's cool. Do you know how many millions
that communists killed? Do you know how many millions
this free love fornication from the hippie movement killed in
abortion? Do you know how many Stalin put
to death and the communist leaders of China? Do you know how many
millions they put to death? And you're gonna play around
with this stuff like it's cute and cool? Satanism is not cool and cute. The people that really know what's
going on, the true Satanists, are laughing. But they know it's all preparing
for their leader, the Antichrist. Time Magazine in 1967 had an
article called, Youth the Hippies. They say historian Arnold Toynbee
describes them as a red warning light for the American way of
life. Yes, it was a red warning light. People should have woke
up. There was some type of revival in the 70s among fundamentalists,
but, or shall we say Christians began to, in some ways, wake
up. But it all fizzled out into charismatic
evangelicalism, you know. Everybody went back to love.
A false view of love. If you leave a fundamentalist
church, the first reason they're going to say is, we've got to
get back to love. Toleration. I have friends that
are homosexual. We've got to get back to embracing
everybody. They're little hippies is what
they are. Little rebels. Little hippie
rebels. Who know not what they're doing.
Hippies preach altruism and mysticism. A cult whose mystique, that's
why they say, just follow your heart. Let the Holy Spirit guide
you in your heart. Get away from the Bible, you
know. A cult whose mystique derives
essentially from the influence of hallucinogenic drugs. The
hallucinogens promise Those who take the trip, a magic carpet
escape from reality. The cult is a growing phenomenon.
In San Francisco, there was serious danger of epidemics and infectious
hepatitis from needles exchanged in shooting amphetamines and
venereal disease, already up six times from the city's 1964
rate. The hippies hope to generate
an entirely new society. The hippie uses drugs, first
for kicks, and then sometimes as a kind of religious sacrament.
Anti-intellectual, distrustful of logic. Say, you've got to
silence your mind. The devil always comes. Alistair
Crowley said, the mind is the great enemy. In 1966, the Church
of Satan was formed. It pretty much just said, all
of this stuff you're doing, living like an animal, it's just satanic.
It's all an anti-intellectual device. That's all the satanic
ritual is. Once unleashed, most hippies
first become insatiable hedonists, smoking and eating whatever can
turn them on in a hurry. Well, there's a lot of hippies
today in Baptist churches. And, of course, fornication.
The primary quality in common was a history of unhappy, and
people say, you know what? You're like a hippie. You're
into getting back to nature and eating organic. No, no, no, you're
like a hippie. You just stick whatever in your
mouth that pleases you. The primary quality in common
was a history of unhappy family life. All of the acid heads were
loners and losers with few friends and few accomplishments before
they dropped out. If there were a hippie code,
it would include these flexible guidelines. First, do your own
thing. Remember Lister Crowley said, do what thou wilt shall
be the whole of the law. Wherever you have to do it and
whenever you want. Drop out. Leave society as you
have known it. Leave it utterly. Blow the mind
of every straight person you can reach. In other words, try
to be shocking. The key ethical element in the
hippie movement is love. Central to the drug scene is
marijuana. If grass is the staple of hippiedom,
then LSD is the caviar. Now, let's discuss for just a
moment some good things that were in
the air that some of the hippies embraced. When the Summer of
Love finally ended, thousands of hippies left San Francisco.
They said it became too commercialized. And many of them headed back
to the land. Many of them formed communes
and began to form off-grid communities and go back to gardening and
that type of thing. At age 13, I hung out every weekend
with 19-year-olds. This was in South Carolina. They
didn't wear shoes. They were dressed in leather. Their older brothers and sisters
would have been the real hippies of 1969. At 13 years old, this is who
I hung out with. Nobody around me was my age.
Every weekend, these 19-year-old hippies took me, and I played
music with them. They would go down to the river,
play guitar. They would do acid and things. I wouldn't do that.
But praise God, he preserved me somehow or another. But if there's one thing I know,
I know what a Southern hippie is. I came back to school and
all the children in my whole school, hundreds, nobody had
long hair anymore. But I did. So I know what it's
like to walk around wrestlers and jocks and preps and be the
one with long hair. Now there were freaks, which
were really just hippies without long hair. They'd begun to cut
their hair, even the freaks, which were marijuana smokers. I was attracted to the anti-materialism,
which is why a lot of people become freaks. If you don't have
a lot of money and you go to one of the richest schools in
your state, there's definitely a class distinction. And when
you can't afford the Izod tennis shoes, when you don't have the
fancy car, when you don't have the fancy clothes, it's easy
to say all these people are judgmental and snobs. And so I can be accepted
with holes in my blue jeans and a rock and roll t-shirt and walk
around barefooted, and I'm accepted. They accept everybody. It's almost
a protest against the materialism. So it's very attractive. When I began to go to summer
camp, to an equestrian camp, my camp counselor was very good
with horses. He called himself Nature Boy,
and he had long hair. And I began to associate the
hippie movement with country living and back to nature and
the opposite of materialism, riding bareback on my horse in
the pastures. I began to be attracted toward
that. And of course, the music kept me immersed in that culture. What I found was this. When people sit around and smoke
pot and talk about how stuck up and snobbish the rich are
and how we're so much better because we have toleration and
love, do you know Some of the most judgmental people
were the hippies, the freaks I was with. Because if you ever
meet some of those people, because I played guitar, sometimes they
would come and befriend me. Some of the richest kids in the
school. And I'd be ashamed of myself because I'd end up saying,
you know what, these are really nice folks. They're not snobbish. I'm not saying that no rich people
are ever snobbish, but I'm just saying that the hippies were
even wrong about the people that they were judging. It's very
much today when people become hippies, so to speak, and leave
their churches. They leave their fundamental
churches with standards, and they say, oh, they're just judgmental.
They're so mean. They're Pharisee. No, you're
the Pharisee. You're the one being judgmental.
Just because there are some people that are harsh or severe or lacking
love, speaking the truth without love, doesn't mean that everybody
is like that. And you ought to not be so judgmental
about some people have money because they worked hard to have
it. Some people have standards to judge everybody, like a lot
of these hippies and freaks do. How is that toleration? I had no idea that having long
hair, I should have, but I had no idea that it was associated
with androgyny. I had no idea of the occultism
involved in what I was doing. When my eyes began to open up,
When I was at a party somewhere and they put on a video of Metallica
and Slayer and they stood up and said, we all await the coming
of Antichrist, I turned around. I said, what did they just say? What? As I said before, I began to
hand out flyers for our band to a local club. And we advertised,
no homosexual music here, come listen to our Rock and roll,
metal, whatever it was. And some of the leaders of the
club came to me and says, hey, we're all into homosexuality. I said,
what? So basically, I began to realize,
you know what, the long black train that I'm on, you know where
it's headed? It's headed toward homosexuality, or at least embracing
homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle, which is what the
next generation did with Nirvana and et cetera. It's a cultism,
embracing black magic, white magic, whatever you want to call
it. I said, it's not for me. I'm
off this train. I had no idea that this is what
this whole thing was about. Just like many of these naive
Christians don't even know what train they're on. You don't know
what spirit you are of. In August 1969, the Woodstock
Music and Art Festival took place in Beth-El, New York. Over 500,000
people arrived. Joni Mitchell was not able to
be there, but she was a leader of that hippie world at the time,
one of the leaders in her songwriting. She looked at it from the outside
on TV, and so she wrote this little song about it. to try
to capture the spirit of the hippie Woodstock revolution.
She says, I came upon a child of God. He was walking along
the road, you know, calling these hippies children of God. And
this he told me, I'm going on down to Yeager's farm. We are
stardust. We are golden. Hey, that's long
before Carl Sagan. They believe we all came from
stars, you know. That's another occult teaching that the scientists
are embracing today. And we've got to get ourselves
back to the garden. She doesn't mean just get back
to country living. She means we've got to go back
to the garden, to peace, to paradise, to androgyny. Remember, they
believe it the fall. That's when it became male and
female. By the time we got to Woodstock, we were half a million
strong. We are stardust, billion-year-old carbon. However, Joni Mitchell
became disillusioned with her hippie friends pretty quick. And she got up and tried to sing
a song to them. One of her hippie yoga friends
jumped up on the stage and started playing his drums while she's
trying to play. And so she whispered to him,
no, sit down. You're not even playing in time. And he continued
to play and continued to play and messed up her music. So finally,
the hippie got up and took her mic away and began to say some
type of hallucinogenic nonsense. And so the stage crew had to
come and shoo him off stage. And everybody booed her. In other
words, you've got to just let people interrupt you. You've
got to let people just mess up your show. And she got mad. And
she started telling everybody, how is this love, so to speak?
How is all of this? And that's what the hippies are
all about. Hey, you've got to love me. You've got to let me do whatever
I want. You've got to let me talk when I want to talk. You've
got to tolerate me no matter what, even if I mess up your
life, even if I don't clean up anything, even if I live off
you and don't pay my parents anything. I need to be embraced. You don't understand me. The
parents said, no, I don't understand somebody that's lazy. No, I don't.
Or maybe I do understand you. Go get a job. She became very disillusioned.
She would later say, I wasn't really a hippie at all. I was
always looking at it for its upsides and downsides, balancing
it and thinking, here's the beauty of it, and here's the exploitive
quality of it, and here's the silliness of it. I can never
buy into it totally as an orthodoxy. She said, out of it came this
liberated, spoiled, selfish generation into the costume ball of free
love. Free, free, free, free, free. We're so free. And Woodstock
was the culmination of it. But I was not a part of that.
Even Pete Townsend, who wrote, I believe, the lyrics, my generation,
my generation, got disgusted at Woodstock. The Guardian. In 2017, says, golden days, 50
years on from the summer of love. LSD guru, Timothy Leary. I did a college paper about Timothy
Leary. Stood up and told the youth of
America to turn on, tune in, and drop out. See, he was the
intellectual leader of these young people. If you were to
take a walk through Golden Gate Park that summer, you'd see hundreds
of people just sitting on the grass talking to each other,
says the wife of Jerry Garcia. Well, you don't see that much
today. In the me, me, me generation, they're sitting around talking
to one another in the park. In the me, me, me generation, they're
looking at themselves so they can post another selfie on Facebook. The whole scene had to do with
a breakdown of traditional values. It was about trying to build
a new society, says William Hedgepeth, journalist of Look Magazine.
I'm glad he admitted that. A breakdown of traditional values.
That's exactly right. Do you want to turn everything
on its head and live like they did in Paris at the end of the
19th century? That's what we did. We turned things upside
down, says Gray Slick, lead singer of Jefferson Airplane. Yes, you
did. Thank you for admitting it. LSD appeared. It brought us out of the dark
ages. It cured the 1950s. People came from all over the
world to become experienced. Our beautiful scene did turn
into a zoo, says Stanley Maus, graphic artist. All of this is
my point. Where does being experienced
finally end? Where does do your own thing
end? How do you put restrictions on it and stop it? If they say,
I'm going to do my own thing and get venereal disease and
be an adulteress and be into free love, I'm going to do my
own thing and abuse my body and abuse my mind and brain with
drugs. I'm going to do my own thing
and not take a bath and dress androgynously. I'm going to do
my own thing and not work. Okay? How do you stop the next
person from saying, you know what? We experimented with fornication. Wow, I'm experienced. Let's experiment
with homosexuality. Or let's go kill somebody. You
know what a lot of young people today in the news are doing?
It seems like every few months I read another article about
some teenagers say, what would it feel like to kill somebody?
Have you ever done it? How do you tell those people? that that's wrong. What if somebody says, I want
to feel what suicide is like? How do you tell them that's wrong? How do you tell them pedophilia
is wrong? No, they say be experienced,
do what you want, do what thou wilt. So finally, right here in 1969,
a bunch of hippies got together, led by Charles Manson, and they
said, let's do drugs and be experienced. Let's go kill somebody. They're
a bunch of rich people snobs anyway. Let's go see what it
feels like. And suddenly all of America stopped.
And they said, okay, there's the fruit of the hippies. There
it is right there. Charles Manson. In fact, people
today say Charles Manson pretty much ended the 60s. It was this
idealistic dream of we can all live selfishly, we can do whatever
we want. And then it manifested itself in Charles Manson. And then a Stones concert. Not
long after, some people got killed by the Hells Angels, I believe. It put a downer on the whole
hippies idea. And then, of course, AIDS hit
the world. Wow. I lived through it. I know what
fear it put upon everybody. Everywhere I went, people were
scared to death because it jumped from homosexuals to heterosexuals. In fact, my friend's older brother,
who was never a sodomite, he died of AIDS because he was messing
around. It scared the death out of a
whole generation. It put religion in a lot of people. See, God
starts bringing curses upon things and you start seeing the fruit.
I tell you what, you'll get religion real quick. The magazine, The Conversation,
Nicholas Champion, 2017, says, in the summer of 1967, the centerpiece
of the 60s still looms large over popular culture and social
mores today. He's saying, hey, it's still
here. The very foundation of it is with us today. He's right,
and that's my point of my sermon today. 50 years after Woodstock,
I'm here to tell you, the occult foundations are still with you
today, and worse, they're in your churches. They're in your
churches. Flowing colors of psychedelic art. And let me say one thing
about that. They criticized the hippies for
being naked. But most hippie girls wore far
more clothes than your average Christian girl in churches today.
Not so much in this church. But in most churches today, the
hippies could teach modern Christian girls something about modesty.
Boy, that's sad. That is sad. They could also
teach them something about long hair on girls. At least they
had some hair. At least they had flowers in
their hair. At least they looked feminine. The problem is the men had long
hair and flowers in their hair too. A belief that love was the solution
to all problems. Hippie culture set out to transform
the world by rejecting every social, political, economic,
and aesthetic feature of mainstream western society. Please understand that that society,
much of it was built on the foundation of a King James Bible. So when
you reject it and turn it upside down, you're turning God's truth
upside down and backwards. You better figure that out when
you get attracted to the hippie world. This new Garden of Eden
was destroyed progressively by the sheer numbers of teenagers.
Disillusion set in. The twin shock of the Manson
murders of 1969 and the brutal killing by the Hell's Angels
of an audience member at the Rolling Stones concert provided
the epitaph to an era. At the time, you had political
Marxists, which really weren't hippies. Then you had those that
just wanted to find inner liberation through drugs. Then you had those
seeking androgyny, androgynous dress. And all of that is with
us today, folks. The very foundation of the counter-revolution
is here today. Political Marxists are everywhere
like never before. You've never seen so many communists
among the young people today. And that's going to lead to bloodshed.
Millions are going to die unless somehow you wake up this generation
and let them know communism is not cool. Giving everything to
the state and giving utmost power to the party to distribute wealth
to everybody, that is not cool. Androgyny, there's nothing holy
and godly about that. And messing your mind up through
drugs, there's nothing godly about that. He goes on to say, though the
three groups' priorities were fundamentally different, they
shared a belief that the past was old and stale. Remember,
God says when you're in the midst of such an age, you better seek
for the old path. If you want to find God and find
rest to your soul in the midst of this hippie culture, hippie
generation, you better seek the old path. Whatever they're turning
upside down, you better turn it right side up. That's all
I did. I came out of the hippie movement.
I was the pastor of a hippie church. And all I did said, you
know what, we're going to one by one start turning everything
right side back up. Everything they turn upside down,
step by step, year after year, we're going to turn it right
side up. And you better believe a lot of people got angry. Some
things they didn't want right side up. They liked it upside
down. Let me give you some Bible verses.
Proverbs 24. My son, fear thou the Lord and the King, and meddle
not with them that are given to change. As David Bowie, the
sodomite, said, Change is. Face the change. Face it all.
For their calamity shall rise suddenly, and who knoweth the
ruin of them both? That's the ruin that the Lord
and the King can put upon you. So you reject authority, authority
is going to make you hurt, if it's godly good authority. You
reject the Lord's authority, He's going to make you hurt.
You're going to get a curse from the king and the Lord. Proverbs 20, the fear of the
king is as the roaring of a lion. Whoso provoketh him to anger,
sinneth against his own soul. Being against authority, unless
God tells you to for His sake, is not cool. It is not a good
thing. It destroys a generation of people. Isaiah 24, the earth also is
defiled under the inhabitants thereof because they have transgressed
the laws and changed the ordinance. Notice, they're given to change.
They change God's commandments. Here's Timothy Leary, the LSD
promoter and intellectual leader of the 60s, one of them. He says,
the morals in this country have changed. The kids just don't
buy that old uptight Puritan ethic. The aim of the game is
to feel good. And the function of the government
is to get everyone high. Listen to what he's saying. He's
saying, feel good. That's all that matters. And
all we care about is that our parents fund me having a good
time. And all we care about is the
government making sure I have enough money to buy dope. I want
to live off welfare and smoke pot. You tell me that's not here
today, brother? You tell me that's not part of
our culture today? It's not just the economy that's
making a lot of young people still live with their parents.
I believe girls should till they get married. And I believe there's
some good things about boys staying, but they need to be providing.
The boys need to be providing and doing their part. They don't need to be lazy, sitting
around playing video games, living off their parents. Ezekiel 5, she hath changed my
judgments into wickedness, more than the nations. Isn't it sad
if America becomes more unholy and has become
more unholy than some of the heathen nations? Of course in
many ways America is now a heathen nation. And my statutes more than the
countries that are round about her. And Isaiah says, Isaiah
29, God says, God forbid you as a girl want to be a man as
if God had no understanding. God forbid you as a young man
whose glory is your strength, you want to be a female as if
God has no understanding in making you. All these rules and regulations
and standards that God gave us that are our protection, we want
to get rid of them. What God says about marriage,
you want to get rid of. That make a man an offender for
a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate. He
says when they begin to turn things upside down, they're going
to hate anybody that goes against it. Anybody that tries to call
them back to responsibility. That's what my book, The Rod,
Will God Spare It, calling Christians to accountability. Trying to
face a hippie generation of Christians. I'm called everything you can
imagine. They call me heretic, call me
every word you can imagine. Why? Because I'm facing a bunch
of hippie Christians, even if they don't have long hair, and
I'm telling them that you need to fear God and be accountable. They don't like that. They don't
like that. What happens when hippies get
control of the state? Oh, I tell you, it's going to
be bad. It's going to be bad. You're not going to find toleration.
They're going to say, you make that cake for the homosexual
pervert, or we will sue you. We will use the state to make
you conform. Here's a song in 1967, Freak
Out USA. We do what we want. We say what
we want. We wear what we want. We look
exactly the way we want to. The time has come for the whole
world to know that we all can't conform to the rules. That's
what the 60s were about. You like that? God says, if somebody
says that, take them out and stone them. That's what it said
in the Old Testament. That's what God said. He said,
you let rebels like that come among you, it curses everybody. The Barbarians. It's a nice name
for a band. They pretty much put it in writing
here in 1965. Are you a boy or are you a girl? With your long
blonde hair, you look like a girl. But they look like girls too.
You're always wearing skin-tight pants. Yeah, you look like a
girl. Hey. Hey, the 60s are still with us.
A lot of these boys look like girls, whether they have long
hair or not. They walk effeminate. They talk effeminate. They act
effeminate. They dress effeminate. You better
believe androgyny is alive and well. The 60s are still with
us. Right in the middle of the free
love movement, they unleash LSD. Right in the
middle of the free love movement, they unleash the pill. The idea
is to try to end up not being responsible. You end up without
a child. birth control. You ended up with single moms
in the 70s. Today, look everywhere, single
moms. A lot of these moms are single
because they were rebelling against anybody trying to hold them accountable. Look around you today. We have
gun control. That's the fruit of the pacifism. Communists,
of course, want to take away your guns so they can control
you. The hippie revolution was a pacifist revolution. That's
insane. America cannot be pacifist. You ought not be pacifist in
your house if somebody tries to kick your door down and rape
your children. Gun control is insanity. You have new age movement everywhere.
So today we have single mom, we have free love, we have divorce,
we have drugs, we have communism, we have gun control, we have
the new age movement, we have occultism, we have uncertainty. You have a generation gap. You have people rejecting work
in the conventional capitalistic society, but wanting to be supported
by it. Here's the headline from just
the other day, or today, USA Today, magic mushrooms for better
health. Psychedelic drugs are having
a moment across the US. Marijuana is being legalized
all across America. There's probably never been more
pot smoking, more marijuana smoking, more marijuana delusions than
there is today. And now, You better believe magic
mushrooms is pretty much a natural LSD. It's going to start taking
the world by storm. That's on top of the Ritalin
and all the psychiatric drugs everybody's already taken. Now when you look and the Bible
says they're drunk, They're drunk. The whore has poured out her
wine. The Babylon whore has poured
out her wine among all nations, and the nations are mad. They're
all drunk. That's not only the spiritual
teaching, the New Age teachings, the occultism, the philosophies,
but it's also literal drunkenness, intoxication from the drugs that
this world is going to be taken, like in the brave new world. So where does being experienced
end? I can guess. I've told some radio
stations when being interviewed where it's going to end, and
they mocked me. Standing out in front of the Rager Stadium,
preaching against Gay Day, interviewed by radio stations. I said, well,
this is homosexuality, next it'll be pedophilia. And they laughed
and they mocked. I said, cannibalism will be next.
Why don't you be experienced? See, how long before somebody
says, I want to be experienced and do what I want? I want to
be against the conventional standards of society. Why not eat a person? Here's Newsweek, time to rethink
the taboo on cannibalism? Psychologists, nothing necessarily
unethical or unreasonable about eating human flesh. And what
about free love with children? Here's a headline. A pedophile
has the same ingrained attraction that a heterosexual female may
feel towards a male, psychologist says. And I could go on and on
and on about the new psychologist embracing pedophilia. Oh, what about this? ABC News
Today. Young Americans embrace socialism,
even among Miami Cubans. Here's another one. Younger generations
rate patriotism, religion, and having children as less important
than did young people two decades ago. Don't you dare look back and
say the hippies of 1960. Oh, no, buddy. Like never before
on the face of the earth. This hippie culture. Oh, you
might not have the beads and the flowers in your hair. Oh,
that stuff doesn't matter. As long as you're androgynous,
that's what they want. As long as you do something to
shock conventional people. As long as you do something to
go against what they did, what your forefathers did. You know,
just be shocking in some way. Get a mohawk. Put a hook in. Just do something. Paint your
hair blue. It's all part of the, I'm not
going to conform, but I am going to conform to whatever Satan's
telling me to do. The children today are confused.
They don't know how to find truth in the Bible. They don't know
how to respect authority. They don't know who's behind
all of this. Dear Lord, thank You for the
patience of these people. I pray all who listen to this message,
God, will be inspired, motivated,
convicted to evaluate how much of this satanic, Marxist philosophy is still in their life, God.
How much of this carefree attitude that is not of You, but is of
the devil. Lord, we want pure food. We want to be self-reliant. And
in that sense, get back to nature and witness the beauty of your
creation. We do want to reject the excesses
of a materialistic culture that pursues money as an end. But Father, we want to work hard.
We want a good work ethic. And we want the foundations of
everything you say about the fear of God, the Bible, the family,
marriage, and how to raise godly children. Help us to stand against this
zeitgeist of the age, this satanic spirit, these doctrines of devils,
that turns your pure love, which you define as keeping your commandments
upside down, and defines it as just loving self and seeking
self and doing your own thing. Thank you, holy God, for these
people in Jesus' name. Amen.
