Evidence for the Divine Inspiration of the Bible 08 – Daniel 11:13-21 Episode 170

396

Today were going to continue the fulfilled prophecy of Daniel 11 and pick right up where we left off yesterday.
Dan 11:13 For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.
The king of the north, Antiochus III returns with an army to retake the land that he had lost eighteen years earlier.
Dan 11:14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
The king of the north, Antiochus III once again brought a vast army against the king of the south, Ptolemy V. According to Josephus, Antiochus III defeated Ptolemy's general Scopas near the fountains of the Jordan. The Jews helped out Antiochus, but this act of kindness was not remembered by Antiochus IV as he later came against Jerusalem.
Dan 11:15 So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.
After being defeated, Scopas fled to the fortified city of Sidon. Antiochus III besieged Sidon and Scopas and his men were allowed to flee with their lives…naked.
Dan 11:16 But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
Antiochus III had effectively defeated Ptolemy IV and too
