Sin Corrupts a Church

Even after God gives us a new heart and gathers us together in churches we are still struggling with sin. False ideas of sin and wrong ideas about the work of grace still trip us up. We are often running to extremes of either forgetting our freedom from the power of sin or thinking that sin has no effect in our life. In this passage, Paul rebukes the church in Corinth for allowing a man to remain a church member even though he is continuing in unrepentant sin. This situation in the life of a New Testament church serves as a warning to churches today about the pernicious effects of misunderstanding sin.
