The Listening, Discipling, Obedient Servant

In Isaiah 50:4-11, we are challenged by a Servant whose
life reveals 5 marks of being a disciple.
I. The Servant is a disciple the Lord GOD equips to
speak sustaining words (v. 4a, b).
II. The Servant is a disciple who listens to the Lord
GOD (v. 4c).
III. The Servant is a disciple who obeys the Lord GOD
(v. 5-6).
IV. The Servant is a disciple who depends upon the
Lord GOD for vindication (vs. 7-9).
V. The Servant is a disciple whose ministry divides
the world …
A. into those who fear Yahweh and obey his
Servant, trusting and relying on them even
though they walk in darkness (v. 10).
B. into those who trust in themselves to walk
by their own light though it leads to
torment (v. 11).
