Hey, good morning, everyone.
Welcome to another morning devotion with Brother Mark, where we are
walking together on our walk with Christ. Today is August
the 15th, 2024. Well, we're continuing to just
think about the blessings of God, the wonderful works of God
and the things that he gives us. And tonight, Wednesday night,
I'm gonna talk about, we're continuing our study of repentance and faith.
And during that study, we talked about, we're gonna talk about
being contrite. And the blessing, what I wanna
talk to you about today is the blessing of being contrite. What
is contrite? The state of being contrite is
feeling regret or sorrow for one's sins or wrongdoing. And
you'll say, well, how can being contrite be a blessing? Well, here's how being contrite
can be a blessing. Listen to what Isaiah has to
say. He says, Isaiah 57, 15. For thus saith a high and lofty
one that inhabiteth in eternity. whose name is holy. I dwell in
the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite
and humble spirit to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive
the heart of the contrite ones. So I want you to think about
this. Where does God say that he dwells? He dwells in the most
high. He inhabits eternity. He dwells in a high and holy
place. And where else does he dwell?
with the one that is of a contrite and humble spirit. So what's
the blessing of being contrite? The blessing of having a deep
sense of sorrow for one's sins and wrongdoing? When we have
a contrite heart, that means that God dwells with us. You
see, God hates the prideful. But those who have a humble spirit
and have a contrite heart, they feel great sorrow for their sins. That scripture, Isaiah says,
he dwells with those who are contrite. And so today, even
though it may not seem like a blessing, today I'm thankful for God helping
me to see my sin and granting me a regret for my sin. Because
that allows me to know that if I have a contrite heart, then
that means God's dwelling with me. What a blessing it is to
know that God is dwelling with you. So today, I want to encourage
you to be thankful for the blessing of a contrite heart. Be thankful for the blessing
of an understanding of your sin, to understanding of your guilt
before God, to understand that you have transgressed against
the Holy One because God dwells with those who are of a contrite
heart. Heavenly Fathers, we come to
you today, we are thankful again for, in this case, what might
not seem like a blessing to many. But God, we're thankful today
that you have granted us a contrite heart to where we can feel deeper
regret and sorrow for our sins. And I pray, Lord, that we will
always keep our hearts contrite before you, humble before you,
so that our heart will not be lifted up in pride and removed
away from you. But God, a contrite heart is
one where you dwell. So we're thankful for that today.
And we pray, God, that you will help us to understand you were
with us when we have regret for our sins and are sorry for it.
Thank you again for all your many blessings, blessings that
the world don't recognize, but the blessings you give to your
people. Thank you for those blessings today. In the name of Jesus,
we pray. Amen. Well, I hope you're having
a good week. Until the next time, this is
Brother Mark signing off.
