The Making Of A Scapegoat

In Genesis 44, we can imagine the brothers celebrating as they gather themselves to return home. Simeon is free, Benjamin is safe, they still have the silver from their first visit, and after such a royal reception, they also have food to bring home. But then their journey is cut short when Joseph's steward stops them and retrieves Joseph's golden cup from Benjamin's sac.

When Joseph insists that Benjamin should remain and serve him as an enslaved person, Judah steps up to offer himself to stay in Egypt as a substitute for his brother.

What is it that God is teaching us through these brothers that we can learn as we acknowledge what the Lord is doing in our lives?
