The Dangers of Infant Baptism
Series Raising Children
Infant baptism is a perfect example of an unbiblical, man-made ritual that parents would rather embrace than the long, arduous and painstaking process of true child evangelism. Nearly everyone who practices paedobaptism believes it changes the child's status by either regenerating the child or bringing the child "into the covenant." The danger is that most parents no longer look at their baptized child as a lost sinner that needs to be evangelized. Instead, the commonly look at their child as either saved or presumed saved until proven otherwise. This has enormous consequences for the child's soul. If you want to evangelize someone, you don't tell them that they are a child of God or a Christian because they have been baptized, and then merely instruct them to behave like a Christian. No, you tell them that they are lost and need to be born from above.
