Discovering the Curse of the Law

The Word brings life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Yet the initial contact of God's Word, particularly the Law, may have the effect of making one aware of sin, guilt and judgment. This was the case with Josiah as the reading of the law made Him aware of its curse upon sinners and upon the nation of Judah. Here is God's mercy to a believing individual (the king) even as His judgment is sure to come upon Judah.
