Does Baptism Save?

'What must I do to be saved?' is the most important question one can ask. The answer is simple: 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.' But what about water baptism? What role does water baptism play in salvation? Many believe that one must be baptized either as an infant or an adult for salvation. But the pattern in clear; One believes and then is baptized as a public declaration of one's allegiance to Jesus Christ, a testimony of one's faith in Christ. But baptism does save us from a soiled conscience as it is a public declaration of one's alliance with other Christ followers. It is a public testimony that one is finished with the old way of life and that it now one's intent to live for Christ. One has decided to follow Jesus, and there is no turning back!
