I and the Father are One
Series Exposition of John
Jesus claims to be one with His Father. He and His Father are one in purpose and plan, but Jesus was saying more than that. He was claiming to be one in essence or nature with God which is why Jesus and the Father are always one in the works they do. The Jews understood what Jesus meant. That's why they accused Him of blasphemy and tried to kill Him.
