Double Jeopardy!

In verses 1-8, we have seen the judgment on Israel’s pagan altars. We move now into God’s judgement upon their military strength. Her earlier sins have weakened them to the point of repeating the past. As the old saying says, “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” This was the case with Israel. The same old sins would rear their ugly heads.
