Trust and Serve the Model King

Sermon Point: Trust and serve the model King who grants you every blessing.

Outline:

1. When you look at David, Ziba, and Mephibosheth, don't forget about Christ and His work (2 Samuel 2:4, 5:1-5, and 2 Samuel 7 and 8).
2. As a type of Christ, David seeks to show favor to the house of his former enemy (2 Samuel 9:1, 4:4, 9:13).
3. As Ziba providentially directs Mephibosheth to David, see Christ at work for your benefit (2 Samuel 9:2-5).
4. When king David gives Mephibosheth the blessing of his own house and table, think of the blessing of Christ's house and table (2 Samuel 9:7 and 11).
5. In addition, as king David restores Mephibosheth's inheritance and secures his future, so Christ deals with you (2 Samuel 9:9-12).
6. And so your fear is turned to grateful humble service as is the case with Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 9:6 and 8).
