All of God's word is not only inspired, it is also important. Romans 16 is a neglected portion of Scripture because people see it as little more than a laundry list of names that Paul wanted to thank. Our individualistic, isolated western world is in great need of its message. For here we see lived out and embodied what it means to be a fellowship of believers that know and care deeply about one another. As Paul commends Phoebe to the church at Rome, so Christ commends us to his father. And as Paul greets the servants of Rome, their example shows us a mighty truth: In God’s kingdom, there is no room for those who want to be first. Here, the first will be last. And he who wants to lead must be a servant, a worker for others.
