A People for His Name

As discussion at the Jerusalem assembly began to wind down, James stood up and galvanized opinion. James appealed to Amos 9:11ff as confirmation from Scripture that God's plan had always been to receive believing Gentiles into the church by faith alone. Given this Biblical warrant, James concludes that Gentiles should not be troubled to bring more than faith in Jesus when they seek membership in Christ's church.
