Sin Compels Judgment
Series The Doctrine of Sin
(Note: The first portion of this sermon was not recorded.)
The Northern Kingdom split away during the reign of David's grandson. They not only refused to leave their sin, but they delighted in it. They claimed that God received their twisted forms of worship as acceptable and good. They ignored the warnings that God sent to them through His prophets. Now they are Exiled from the Promised Land. This passage focuses on their idolatrous worship as the key aspect of their covenant-breaking. If God would do this to His chosen people, then the nations should tremble in fear. Our hope is not that our love for God is good enough, our hope is that Jesus Christ represents us before God, gives His righteousness to us, and leads us in worship before God.
